Much bigger collector and investor base. Not many people care about HOFers once they are done playing. Mahomes is still active so his cards are going to get much more trading volume.

If you want a current comparison, look at the 2018 Prizm Silver for Josh Allen. Much lower pop and a PSA 10 sold for 5-6k recently on ebay.

You know that in 2018 silver prizm were only one per box, right?

A few years ago, Chris Jones and others were being called for roughing the passer by landing with their full body weight on the QB, which was a change as before that was considered part of the game. Now he hasn’t been called for that penalty near as much that I remember because he adapted and made changes apparently.

I agree that the NFL needs to modify or change some things about sliding, flopping etc. I emphasize this is a league-wide issue, not just teams playing the Chiefs or a Mahomes only issue as the narrative suggests.

In the meantime, players have to adapt the best they can. All teams. Fair or not, that’s the reality. And the good old days, they ain’t never coming back. For anyone. If a person doesn’t like it, vote with your wallet.

However, the main point the post you quoted made was that this notion of a blatant vast conspiracy (that has to be subtle and nuanced and it may not work every time) for the Chiefs to win Super Bowls just so the Patriots legacy is dethroned because Goodell hates Kraft and the Patriots is crackpot. And I agree. End of story. Dan Snyder proved if they really want to get rid of an ownership group, they can do just that. They don’t need to let the Chiefs win.

If a person has an inferiority complex due to sports team success or lack of it, or is somehow threatened by a disagreeing opinion that’s above my pay grade.

Is there any reason Mahomes has been signing unlicensed cards lately and not for Panini or is that coming next year?

I picked up a Mahomes 2017 Pen Pals PSA 8 (naked eye looks like a 9) recently for half as much for what Prizm Silver PSA 10s are selling.

I know Prizm Silvers are King but the auto I bought seems like a better value.

As a holder of a redemption for a 2021 on card auto, and realizing that he's moved houses since then, I've just come to grips with the assumption that his box of unsigned cards are long gone and will never be fulfilled.

Makes complete sense. People throw out A LOT of things when moving.
Sorry man.

I think that was a smart move on the pen pals auto. I have a 2018 silver, but would prioritize an auto

Frankly, I’m surprised he would be signing any cards at this point for panini or topps. I actually like the fact that it keeps the auto population down.

What's cool is not only is it photo matched, but since it's such a high profile game, it's been easy to find the TV broadcast and video match the ball (including catches by Hill, Kelce, McKinnon, and others).

And that's what makes this matchup so fun. These two already have been the premier matchup of this era of the NFL, and while I'm rooting for the Chiefs to win again, if Allen ends up getting by them finally and winning a Super Bowl, it only further cements this as the Brady/Manning matchup of this era.

I haven't been as excited for a Chiefs AFC championship matchup as I am with this one.

I’m super envious of this. Such a great collectible with a fantastic story. Congrats.

Such a great looking card. If I’m looking it up correctly, it looks like the PSA 10 pop count is 10, with the total graded population of 23. Congrats

I love this guy. He did not "need" to do that, but I think he actually was disappointed in himself and I don't think you'll see that behavior going forward.

I was impressed that he admitted it as well. Hope that doesn’t come back to bite him with the refs in this next game, though. Something tells me they’re going to let the defense get away with more than they typically would….

No worries... I've done well enough on Mahomes stuff that its just a drop in the bucket, and while a really cool looking card, would have been something I moved eventually anyways.

The defense plays games too. In the mid-2010s Seattle's defensive strategy was to basically hold on every play, challenging the refs to call holding every play. They knew the refs wouldn't (which at that point is unfair to the offense) and they knew if they got 3 plays in a row with no calls then they got a turnover on downs.

Something similar is happening now with the emergence of the offense going for it on 4th down more consistently. As a defender you'd rather take a chance on holding the WR off the line and give them 10 yards and a first down rather than A. getting burned for a big play or committing DPI or B. give the offense an easy slant and put them way ahead of the chains, especially if it's a team that goes for it on 4th down. At some point the ref won't call it a few plays in a row and they will be in a 3rd or 4th and long. And we all know a ref won't call it every play down the field.

I really hate posting here because the mods have let this place go to complete sh*t but any recommendations for things to do in Kansas City Saturday?

Food, BBQ, events? Flying in Friday night, lower arena tickets in the 40 yard line. Had to witness one of these in person. Meeting a few friends who live there for dinner but open the rest of the time to explore

The original Joes KC BBQ is the one in the gas station, but there are a couple other Joes locations where the food is just as good and the line is not nearly as long (Jack Stack, Slap's, and Q39 are the other three BBQ joints I would recommend. Don't get me wrong, Gates and Arthur Bryants are still VERY good, but their best days are behind them IMO). Depending where you are staying, there's Legends on the Kansas side and the Power and Light district downtown if you're into bar hopping. KC is like any other big city. There are casinos on the north end of town. Oak Park is the "good" mall. There are museums (Negro League is a good one), and tons of other good places to eat (Diners Drive-ins and Dives type places).

My brother and I were in KC last weekend and one of our Uber drivers recommended Joes BBQ. We never made it but he raved about it.

A couple of people recommended the Power and Light district for restaurants and bars. We hit up the bar in the Best Western after the game. It was about 1/2 mile walk from the stadium. Decent spot where a lot of Chiefs fans hung out at after the game…

I took my boys there a few years ago for KC vs LAC and it was awesome! One of the best tailgating experiences I've had. We went to the orignal Joes BBQ and waited in line for about 45 minutes. It was good BBQ but like most places the hype is better than the food. They were sold out of burnt ends which is what I was really looking forward to so if thats what you want get there early.

BBQ recommendations are spot on. The Country Club Plaza is an amazing collection of shops/food and super walkable if you want a great place to kill time. Westport district also has some cool bars. Also the Nelson Atkins Art museum was one of my favorite places to visit when I lived there (if nothing else you can get a photo of yourself next to one of the iconic gigantic badminton birdie sculptures outside). I absolutely loved KC, the one thing I will say is to stay on the beaten path. There are definitely parts of town you don’t want to find yourself in.

That’s tough! I love the burnt ends at Arthur Bryant’s and would always order the Z-Man brisket sandwich at Joe’s, both never disappointed.
