Kobe's 81 pt game is one of the biggest historical achievements in one single game of basketball. I never watched Chamberlain's 100 (no footage exists correct?), but am inclined to believe Kobe's 81 is more impressive given reasons already outlined by others. A real 81 in a contemporary competitive game? That's insane.

I wonder if any player will ever match or beat that 81...

Never. Not in the flow of a competitive game. I'd have to be a sh!t show like Wilt's 100 point game.

I learned only recently that Devin Booker once poured in 70, the closest to 81 since.

If you ever want an interesting 2021 watch, try Tatum's 60 point explosion as part of a 32 point comeback against the Spurs for a 143-140 overtime win.

Besides Tatum's for-his-son effort coming back from the original COVID, this was where the Aaron Nesmith "energy" phenomenon which Celtics media has started covering as of late came into effect.

Sold the one I posted on page 1 back in 2018. I missed it so much, I picked up this copy. Happy 81-point game, Kobe!

Pop 6, only 1 higher.

Here's one from a few years before the big game, but signed on a piece of a basketball, which is nice.

We're coming up on the 7th anniversary of when Kobe won his Oscar for "Dear Basketball", the animated short film based on his retirement letter. It was the first Academy Award ever won by a professional athlete.

"We have given each other all that we have. No matter what I do next, I'll always be that kid with the rolled up socks, garbage can in the corner, five seconds on the clock, ball in my hands."

Rest in peace, Mamba.
