Default 2023-24 DC Annual (Upper Deck, 2025)

It looks like Upper Deck's first DC set will be 2023-24 DC Annual, coming in January 2025. Different sources give different dates: January 15 or January 29. There will be a retail blaster box with exclusive Blue Parallel base cards.

I might pick up a hobby box or two for fun. With the Marvel Annual sets it seemed like it was smarter to wait for Pack Wars and try for the plates and achievements. Although this being a first modern DC set under UD might give it a bit more buzz than say the 4th or 5th Annual set.

Apologies for somewhat necro-posting, but based on Blowout's page it now seems this has been delayed to March?
I can't see any further information online when doing a Google search, and my LCS doesn't have any information either (here in Australia).

It appears to be a clone of Marvel Annual, with some subtle differences. I wonder if there will be a change in demand with the change in universes.

Of course there is a change in demand, there are far more Marvel collectors than DC. What will be interesting to see if if the sports people come over to try and flip DC cards since they are the new shiny UD product. Will they be pumping PMGs just because they are the first DC PMGs? Not in this product, of course, but you get the gist.

Looking around it seems like March now. Hopefully it doesn’t slip any more.

They probably were in such a rush to get all of those last minute Marvel sets out the door that they had no choice but to delay the DC stuff. Also, if they are blowing out remaining Marvel product on ePack and to other distributors it makes sense to delay DC stuff so it is not released at a time where it is competing against discounted Marvel stock. Better to space it out a bit so DC comes in fresh without UD competing with itself with its discounted Marvel overstock.

Nice! Did Blowout ever have them in stock? Was looking to preorder from them but looks like they are out of stock. Might have to look elsewhere but id rather not.

BO is unable to sell UD online per UD policy (only a select few places can, of which BO isn't one). If you contact BO via the site, they'll let you know how to proceed with an order if you'd like to.

It's a artist proof... I might be wrong on this because I'm not a huge sketch card collector but I think it's an extra card that the artist can keep and do sketches that dont go to UD

Correct, but it still has to be approved by DC/UD (at least if you are an artist who follows the rules). APs are given to artists mainly as a form of payment since they can charge their usual rates to people commissioning them.

Oh I didn't know they had to get the art approved by UD before they can send it to a buyer... I wonder how often UD or DC or marvel say no to art on a ap card...

Looks like we have a checklist finally. Sketch odds look really bad.

Its not as bad as it looks for a low end product.
There are 4 sketch set (ranging from single to 10 panel)
Overall odds about 1 in 227 or a little less than 1 per case

Looks like plenty of Power Girl cards for me to try to trade for, then chase when it goes on sale on ePack.

I'll be going for the Knight Terror inserts, so if anyone rips and wants to sell them Sketch cards are going to be tough, but at least it should make them keep value.

I don't recall seeing a Marvel checklist that included details about the thickness of the card stock for the base set and insert sets. That's interesting.

Yes to everything you said. haha I have so many Lobo comics that this is probably a worst case scenario for me (for him to be in card sets). Already have had a couple of APs done from the Dark Knights Metal of the Main Man. Momoa is perfectly cast as Lobo. Hope it's an R rated flick so that you get the true Lobo rolled out on screen.
