I'll go where he goes. I'm a lifelong Jays fan, but I'm no longer a kid where they're "my team no matter what". I've thought the world of Vlad for years and now that his peak years are here, I'm excited to see what he can do.

Jays are playing a dangerous game. if Vlad has another mediocre year, he'll come back with his tail between his legs and the Jays get their homegrown face of the franchise on their financial terms.
if Vlad proves 2024 is just the beginning of his offensive prime, which could be a very real scenario, then he's good as gone and the nationwide fan base should reject the Jays until the current regime is gone after 10 years of overwhelming disappointment. Rogers is a telecom giant and currently sit 5th in the mlb for payroll so the cannot claim affordability is an issue. Jays fan since '85 but Shatkins finally killed it for me at the start of 2024. i'll still follow along but i'm no longer that kid, Triple B. i like how you phrased that. |

he'd have to change a few things to be a Dodger though. running out ground balls, making better baserunning decisions. the Dodgers are relentless in effort and will hold him accountable. |

Vlad y Juan would be a lot of fun (and the Dodgers don't deserve anyone else).

Players don't always hit better as a result of not playing the field, it some cases it hurts production.

We *can* say that….. But as the official spokesman for the Blowout Vlad-Yordan Crossover Fan Club, I must ask why exactly we want to do that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nothing deceptive. Want to start using Vlad as a control for better evaluating Yordans market.

I’m a fan of both players, but hard not to feel like Vlady Jr will retire with a much higher WAR. |

Completely forgot how young the kid is, here's some crazy stats for you all this morning.
Compared to the Judge. Judge (32) is 7 years older than Vlad (25), but.... WAR Judge 52.2 Vlad 21.5 Hits Judge 1026 Vlad 905 Home Runs Judge 315 Vlad 160 (would need to average 22.8 for 7 seasons to get to 315. Average Judge .288 Vlad .288 RBI Judge 716 Vlad 507 I know that Judge started later but I can certainly see a world in that Vlad finished ahead in a lot of these categories. Curious to see how Jr. will look going into his age 32 season.

A move to the Mets next year would be nice.
Hopefully the Mets will be in the playoff race this year and Toronto won't... So the Mets could get him for the playoff run... I assume he'd split time with Alonso at first, while the other DH's...

I personally don’t care about WAR, so I can’t speak to that. To me, it still comes down to home run titles, 1.000 OPS seasons, Triple Crown chases, some monster home runs in clutch situations, and health/longevity to reach those precious milestones. Prospect pedigree and charisma play into it a little bit, too. Regarding health, Yordan has missed at least 15 games every year. Vlad has missed 15 games total in the past five seasons. So, my long-term prognosis would be to give an edge to Vlad because he’ll last longer. However, they are the same class of hitter, right there with Soto. And we have yet to see the best from any of these three. So, yeah. Vlad makes for a good control. One other factor that could give Vlad an edge: his free agency. He’ll be the focus of the baseball world for a couple months, and he could end up in a top market. Meanwhile, Yordan has a relatively modest long-term contract keeping him in Houston. They are close enough on career paths and age for me. Not looking to compare career estimates beyond just an agreenent they are close to one another. Yordan does have the higher injury risk. Im interested in comparing how their prices on a few main cards deviate during the season based on their individual performance. And compare the trends. Im no statistician, but looking to learn a few things about Yordans price trends and see if i see equal variance in an "equivalent" player.

Vladdy is someone I will likely collect even if he leaves Toronto - as long as he doesn't sign with the Dodgers, Cubs, or a New York team.

There is this recent new video on Youtube (3 days ago)
of how Vladdy trained in the off-season in Tampa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aGDEaPQQlI he trained with Teoscar and J-Rod and other MLB players Vladdy looks serious about making this season a monster for him. Whatever the number he was asking from the Jays..... its gonna be much higher if they dont get him signed now. |

Thanks for sharing. It’s amusing that people still call him fat and say he’ll break down like Prince Fielder. The athleticism and level of conditioning on display in his workout videos tell a very different story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not really seeing much in the way of running. They did a sprinting drill, but he'd probably benefit from say running 3 miles a day. I get it, the focus is all on being explosive, but how about build up some endurance.
