As long as his thrombophilia testing is normal, he will be fine. Should he have a high-risk thrombophilia, he would likely need life-long anticoagulation, which would jeopardize his career. Thrombophilia panel will take ~1 week to come back.

The direction the NBA is headed literally waiting on medical test results.

Pretty much. This is very atypical for a young, healthy, active male to experience. Unless there was some recent injury that I’m not aware of.

He did have a bone bruise in his right shoulder at one point but can't remember how long ago that was. Also not sure if its the same shoulder or if that could have anything to do with it at all.

Obviously, the health of Wemby is way more important than his card prices. I am optimistic since the issue is in the shoulder and not near organs or anything. Hopefully, this is a one time, keep it monitored kind of thing. Would be a massive blow to the NBA if he is compromised for his career so early. Indications so far point to a temporary setback and nothing else.

The fact this thread has only had 1 page of posts in the 1.5 hr since this was announced is really telling.

Maybe people are just becoming weary of young potential stars blowing out to injury.

2014-Embiid
2016-Simmons
2017-Fultz
2019- Zion, Morant

A bunch of guys who went from hobby heros to zeros because they couldnt stay healthy

Every single top pick from basically every year since LeBron has gone down in value from rookie year to now outside of the covid bump.

Every top pick is a hobby hero and insanely over hyped. The only real big winners are the late picks with no expectations.

It's been happening for MONTHS.

Feels like there are as many WNBA threads at the top of the basketball section as there are NBA threads.

I was just thinking in terms of "generational" guys - Zion and Wemby. Two biggest hyped guys in the past 5 years. Way too early to call it for Wemby, though. Zion's windows is closed even if he has a respectable back half of career.

Not that I think it'll happen because I don't think he cares that much about basketball, but Zion is only 24 years old. He's definitely not in the back half of his career yet. If he wanted to lose weight and start competing again, he could.

Yikes is right …… for many of us who are deeply invested, too.
