Agree. Factor in the value gap between a 10 and a 9, along with the historical probability of upgrading a 9 to a 10 through cracking and resubmission...this shift feels bad, but it may ultimately be better for everyone.

Also, we can hope it drives better QC in manufacturing (why should ~75% of cards be less than gem mint straight out of packs that retail for hundreds of dollars?), but I won’t hold my breath.

Spoke too soon. For one order - got an email from PSA for an upcharge for one card in a 60 card order. The upcharge is a grail card I've been waiting 4 years to pop a 10 in. It's worth $1,500ish, I'm keeping it for my PC.

I was worried about the rest of the cards since guys seem to be getting hammered lately by PSA. The whole order was a 75% gem rate, all 1980's cards, so a big win. The wait was worth it. Now one more to pop soon.

Had a monthly special bulk order arrive on 2/7 and its still sitting as order arrived, has not even made it to order prep. I thought they would be caught up on the backlog but i guess not?

There's also the reality that as less cards get graded a 10, less cards will be graded. The price for a 9 may go up, but it won't go up that much and for a lot of cards that'll be a nonstarter.

I am frustrated with PSA and their lack of QA. I just had an order finish and was looking at the pictures in the order and happened to notice the hairline cracks/marks on the bottom of each slab. I remember they had this issue before with the newer slabs but the crack/mark was in the upper corners I believe. I did reach out to PSA as my order has not finished yet but I am sure they will either not see it in time or just not do anything.

What is frustrating to me and I will of course voice my concerns to them is that I am assuming they are not going to fix so once I get them, I have to open a CRC, ship back on my own expense, have them fix these and then ship back just adding a ton of time into it.

Out of curiosity, I did look at ebay at some newer listings and sure enough, I see the same marks. Just super frustrating.

I had an order arrive 1/31 (per PSA) that didn't enter R&ID until the 22nd. Assuming our timelines are similar, your order hopefully enters R&ID by the first few days of March.

Then it’ll be another month before they’re graded.

My estimated completion date is May 5th so you probably aren't wrong.

75% GEM RATE on ALL 1980's cards! Did I read this right? That's insane

As expected, PSA responded to the message I sent them with a canned response not even reading anything I said to try to fix the issues with the slabs. I responded but I don't expect them to actually do anything.

Edit: Now of course I just got the shipment notice so yeah, going to have to open CRC cases. I am not big into social media but I may need to post something on PSA's X feed and mention how ridiculous this is that we can't contact anyone in time to fix the issues before shipment, let alone even recognize the issues before sending out.

X is sometimes the only way to get a response from PSA. I have had to go that route before.

Appreciate it. I was going to ask about that. Now I know what route to take and see what happens.

Not sure if it's just me in assembly hell, or if it depends on where the order is shipping from or something. Goes through grading and assembly in a day, but just chilling with a check mark for over a week. Two orders like that, one sports, one pokemon.

I say that because normally after assembly gets a check it's 3 days max on getting billed. This is like day 8 on one and 6 on another. Also out of the 5 current orders they're working down the list from most recently sent in to oldest. Like why is an order that got their Jan 15th in assembly but mid Dec is still in R&ID. Like wtf are they doing in there.

My grades popped, but I can’t do a proper reveal on the app where you turn your cards over and the images are still the initial scan images.
Very weird. This was a bulk January sub, I got upcharged for the Caleb Williams and Wemby Prizm Silver 10s

is it fairly accurate to say currently it's taking around 4 weeks to get from delivery to Research/ID and the another 2 weeks before Grading begins?

Depending how you pay, we have notifications to set up for our banking institution to notify us of debits that process. Once we see a larger debit charge via email we know PSA finished the order and the grades are available. This is actually received prior to PSA sending out a notification that the order completed.

Yes...this has always been the fastest way to be notified in my experience as well. My credit card notification on a PSA charged order always alerts me faster than anything PSA generates in terms of grades being ready.

That is my current experience on a 01/03 delivery and seems to be the pattern in other posts.

And I'm also 7 days into Assembly without the completion check, a new record for me.
