BO forum slowly dying? - Page 20

Have to put in my honest two cents,
The breath of fresh air from a lot of the gatekeeping that takes place in certain sections (looking at you Baseball Hobby Talk) was alleviated by The Frenzy with the humor and wit, as well as everything that comes in the Off Topic section. I'm thankful that I collect football with a specific player and check in on the Football Hobby Talk page that is pretty laid back overall. Having fun with the hobby and those who enjoy it as well is what I'm about.

We're doing a thing where 1,000 of us post something all at the same time that results in an insta-ban for every single one of us. We're up to 997 participants last I checked, so we need, let's see (writes on scratch paper), that's 3 more, and a few of the guys need to finalize exactly what they're going to post that blows immediately past all suspensions and straight to the hammer. (Please don't ask to be added to the list. We'll contact you.)

Yeah, that'll show 'em.

Same here. Other than a short break after my son was born, I've been collecting nonstop. I still lurk this forum and Net54, but I mainly just check in to catch up on BODA posts.

I peeped the Patrick Mahomes thread, and there's just some random guy spamming haterade comments over and over again lol.

I'm looking for information and meaningful hobby discussion, not that crap. Fun fact: if you google "ok to swap patch card", the first thing that pops up is that dude's reddit post about his fake Josh Allen patch card.

As others have mentioned though, this forum is genuinely important for the hobby. The search function comes in pretty handy when doing research. I think I'm gonna try and be more active on here, because we need to keep this place alive for as long as possible

Now the "comp squad" has taken over. Nobody will sell or buy without a comp.

ALso BO has been notorious for people claiming they only buy to resell.

I had lots I was going to list here but ut wasn't worth the hassle of listing and haggling and then shipping.

Just yesterday I sold a box of refractors/prizms etc. I was going to list it here for $200 shipped. 900 cards. would have MAYBE recieved a $125/$150 offer. Ended up posting on FB marketplace and ended up with $175 cash. Still a great deal for the buyer.

It's unpleasant to see the same three nudnicks going back and forth over and over again and then attacking anyone who might have a differing opinion than theirs.

I'm posting less and less here. I've practically given up on BST, which has been a joke for the last few years.

I just realized that I have not logged on to this site since December of 2023.

Not sure there is any one reason.

Maybe I got tired of the same people arguing back and forth in every post.

Maybe the lack of box breaks due to normal collectors like myself not being able to afford buying boxes anymore.

Maybe the drop in activity in the B/S/T sections.

But probably because I forgot my password and finally remembered it today! Sucks getting old and forgetful!
