Default 1997 Pinnacle Card in a Can

Hey forum. Cleaning out the back of the closets and pulled this out. I bought it many years ago and put it away. Fast forward to today am curious to see what it is worth. I don't think it is worth much, but wanted to get opinions on it.

Case is factory sealed and there are 48 cans inside.

Thoughts?

Football ones are better. You can pull autographs out of them. Baseball, you can't. Just paralles and inserts.

I opened a ton of these as a kid. Pulled just one Diamond Edition parallel. Its weird to buy these and have to wait until you get home to open these with the can opener. This product was a strange concept.

Unopened cases for football and hockey have sold on ebay from anywhere between $100 and $300.

They are pretty neat. I helped a friend of a friend break down his dad's card collection after the dad passed away a few years ago and he had 3 unopened cans. The guy gave them to me as part of his way of saying thanks. I still have 'em.

They're cool to open if you find one in the wild. Heck, I'd take a Rangers can if I could find one. And you can hit some rarities in this stuff.

You're thinking Donruss Preferred, which do come in metal rectangular boxes. What he has are literal soda can looking.

I have a few of these around purely for the novelty aspect.

Here's the back of a can of cards from 1998 Pinnacle.

Those cans are highly sought after by 90s collectors. Diamond Editions are very rare and expensive, so collectors champ at the bit to pop open some cans. They would sell instantly on a 90s facebook group I'm in. If you open them and pull a Larkin Diamond Edition, I'm a buyer.

The 1998 version of Pinnacle Inside did have gold cans that were more limited

I love these cards! 1997 Pinnacle Inside Diamond Edition. 1:63 cans, 150-card set. Odds of getting a particular player: 1:9,450. Your hands will be sore after opening that many cans! LOL

This Randy Johnson is a PSA 10. Unreal, considering it's a die-cut card. PSA Pop 1.

I also have a Mike Piazza (ungraded)...

Man I loved the Pinnacle cans as a kid. Didn’t even care about the cards inside as much as I did the player on the can (but still preferred a sealed one to an opened one).

That seems low, I’d happily pay that for a case.

Ah. Make sense. Die cut is cool. But the 98s are cool too.

I worked at a card store in the late 90s. When these were released, people would call on the phone and say.... "Do you have Prince Albert Belle in a can?". Those crazy kids!
