1) You couldn't order anything from the site. No other products were working.

2) Topps acknowledged there was a sitewide issue.

3) In stock checkers showed they still had qty left.

4) Some were getting orders to go through randomly.

The site was hit hard, lots of bots and the rest of us.
It happens. It shouldn't, but it does.
Michael Rubin has said they put measures in place to combat bots...if so, not very good ones.

It happens. It shouldn't, but it does.

Migrating to Shopify was the worst thing they could have done to mitigate bots.

It was right at 12:00 for me. Just saying it wasn't out of stock if someone placed an order 10 minutes ago, despite being adamant it was out of stock at like, 12:01.

The errors aren't normal errors for something being out of stock. Could it be out of stock? yeah, but the confirmation isn't because of the error people are seeing.

1. Cases were gone before noon.
2. Boxes were sporadic until 1245ish and were at the mercy of luck and timing and a horrible platform.

No chance at a case within 10 seconds gone…got the Shopify error a few times on loose boxes and was able to grab 10. I suppose lucky but will probably sell to my LCS and use profit for singles

I was lucky to get 10, but I refreshed and it wasn’t up yet….refreshed a second later and cases sold out. After I saw cases sold out, I had enough time to get my 10 boxes in. I don’t think cases were ever available.

Fanatics created a monoply pretty much, Your only option is to buy from the big 3, just imagine if this is there new platform going forward. I bought blasters from Dicks just to open some!

Idk why Topps hosts their website with Shopify? You're a rich company just built a site with capable servers or copy over the Fanatics site template.
This is just laughable.

Also, if they actually cared about bots they would use a captcha to filter out the bots.

Correct. And shopify is a very simple system to manage considering Shopify as a whole is massive and practically runs the site for you. Saves a hell of a lot of time and effort compared to the troubles the old Topps site had. Fanatics was simply looking for the easiest site host to manage while making a monopoly for breakers and big 3.
