I mean, it wasn't even an outlier. He's wrong period. Retail almost always has better odds than hobby for most things except autos at least one retail format, that is). And is soooo much cheaper that the dollar per parallel is significantly better. If you want good breaks, retail is usually the way to go. If you want autos, hobby. Just look at Stryker's breakdown of the odds for the last few years' releases. You will see a theme. TBP is just stuck with an early 2000s mindset on retail and can't get out of it to actually look at the odds and price to determine value.

I saw a decent breaker on Fanatics Live yesterday (forget the name) open 7 cases and got something like 7 1975 Topps Milt May buy backs across 2 of the cases.

The over-hyping of rookies is always enjoyable to watch from the sidelines....

Is Paul Skenes the next Nolan Ryan....or is he the next Stephen Strasburg/Shane Bieber/Spencer Strider?

Are the Jacksons the next Acuna or Soto....or are they the next Rhys Hoskins/Pete Alonso/Luis Robert/Julio Rodriguez?

Lots of young player shave terrific rookie seasons....but then never each those heights again as opponents adjust and develop plans to attack their weaknesses.

Not even sure it's worth that....

The reality is that while you're going to get more chromes and autos, because the checklist has been expanded so much, most of them are going to be worthless no-name players.

The names on the checklist matter much more than the types of hits and the odds of hitting them.

I have never seen a hobby or business like the sports card market where such a large percentage of the people don’t seem to understand value of things
