Bats have evolved over the years, much like everything else. And they will continue to do so, much like everything else.

We also now basically replace the ball after everytime it's put in play.

Overreaction.

Every league has done a little something to generate extra offense over the years to heighten excitement in the game. MLB does its best to maintain that delicate balance between offense and defense. If the scoring with these bats gets out of hand, they will be made illegal. Not a big deal.

This has nothing to do with MLB. The rules for bats have been in place for many years. This particular bat has been used by players for 6 years. This is only a thing because the media ran with it.

Exactly and now the media is trying to attribute Stanton's elbow injuries to his use of the bat last season...anything for clicks.

I'll wait for the version that's ribbed for extra batspeed, thank you.

I don't really care either way, just curious, did any of the players use the bats in Spring Training or did they wait until the Regular Season started?

I could be out of the loop but I don't remember hearing anything about these in Spring Training.

There have been players using them for years, including spring training. The reason you didn't hear about them before is because it's not news.

I had an Easton Torpedo bat as a training tool growing up. It's not a new concept by any means. Anyone complaining just doesn't know ball, I guess.

Also, pitchers get endless amounts of data that they can use to their advantage to the point where the average joe is throwing mid to high 90's with 4-5 inches of movement on their fastball. But the nanosecond that Michael Kay opens his fat mouth about the smallest modification to a bat that's not new but becoming more popular amongst MLB players, the world loses their collective minds.

boo hoo, more hits. boo hoo, pitchers have it so hard.

Yeah these bats have been in use for years by various players throughout the league (including known scrubs). These goofy storylines take hold and gullible dupes eat them up - all part of the process for getting through a 162 game season, I guess.

It's 1 game, not a warm day, gearing up to rain, and they still have 9 hits through 5 innings. But please keep going with your cheating conspiracy innuendos.
