As I ignore the Twins record, very excited to finally have this back. Submitted through COMC in January:

2014 Topps - [Base] #125.2 - Joe Mauer (Sparkle) [PSA 10 GEM MT]

This is rough.

Cheap tickets, though. We might hit a few games.

Hey, taking 2 of 3 against the Mets and their billion dollar payroll isn’t so bad! Really need the injuries to stop, though.

Very good article by Gleeman: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/628...tendance-drop/

The closing sentences are superb:

Quote:
Now the Pohlads are learning the hard way that when you make it obvious you view the team as a business, fans will follow suit by viewing the team as a product requiring motivation to buy, judged solely on its merits rather than on emotional attachment or a sense of obligation to support.

And, quite frankly, the product being offered by the Twins hasn’t been good enough to entice potential customers to spend money to watch a struggling roster built by an inactive front office hindered by lame-duck owners who set this whole downward spiral in motion with a “business decision.”

Don’t blame fans. They’re just making their own business decision now.
Unfortunately, the Pohlads will absolutely blame the fans instead of looking at a mirror and taking some accountability. Hard to say I'm not losing hope of a sale after all - worst possible case outcome and looking more probable

Thought you guys would appreciate seeing this - my parents were doing some cleaning awhile ago and found they held onto some ticket stubs from the 1991 postseason, including a couple of World Series games and game 7! Pretty cool, and feels even cooler knowing it was my dad's ticket. They had also printed out copies of their ticket strips that year which is neat as well

Those stubs are sweet, I'd send them to PSA.

Well, the one good thing about this season so far is it should make it a lot cheaper for me to take my family to a game when we make the 10 hour drive next month.

That had never crossed my mind, but might be worthwhile for preservation!

I was at last night's game with some friends, we got like 6 dollar resale tickets and with such a small crowd, didn't feel bad about working our way to the lower bowl instead of the 300s where our tickets were. Gorgeous night for a game, best weather day of the year here so far. Super sad seeing such a sparse crowd. But that's what happens when ownership slaps you in the face

Game itself was fun though! I don't think we played particularly well to be honest, but 3 things that stuck with me:

1. Keashall is a really fun lightning rod. He was on base 3 times and swiped 2 bags last night, and now has a hit in each of his first few games. Hope he is able to stick around even once Royce and Wallner get back

2. Julien made the best defensive play I have ever seen from him. Right in front of me down the first baseline too, such a good play

3. Buxton's catch to end the game! He's learned how to reign it in defensively and let some balls drop when he maybe could get there, but clearly showing he still knows when he needs to go get it. Just a fantastic catch with the game on the line, so much fun

They keep saying the "paid attendance" numbers around 10k, that in your opinion do you think were actually at the game?

Last night would have been GREAT weather so nice you got to see a W.

I mean, I have no idea how to judge a crowd to be honest. I just know the place looks empty. Also keep in mind those numbers are tickets sold, not attendance, so the actual bodies in seats number is going to be lower

Weather wise, yeah, hard to imagine anything more perfect for a game!

Took care of the bottom feeders, before a predictably annoying series against CLE. But then won a series in Boston which is always tough. Overall 8-5 over the past couple series. Man, even just splitting the series against CLE would have been so much nicer

This next stretch is critical if we want to prove we are going to play watchable baseball this year. Really the rest of the month is mostly teams I'd label "just ok" at this point in the year - need to play well and keep winning 2 out of 3 or better to keep clawing back. At this point it's hard to feel like we'll be healthy or productive enough to be what we thought we could entering the year, but you never know

Royce is back today! In before the obvious home run

I'm not a huge Twins fan but just wanted to pop in here to say that the son of a good friend and coworker of mine is tearing it up at AAA St. Paul. Not your typical rookie as he's almost 27 years old. He's 6'8"-250 lb. and gets it from his dad.

Was talking to his dad yesterday and he said the call-up may be coming soon. Edit to add his name: Carson McCusker.

McCusker is having an incredible year with the Saints! Super cool story too as he was an Indy ball signing for us a couple years ago. But he's mashed at every level for us and now is 1-dotting it. Massive strikeout rate, but he's certainly producing regardless

Gotta imagine it's very tempting to find a way to see if he can bring a jolt of energy to the big league squad. Not 100% sure how he'd fit into the lineup quite yet, but sooner or later he's going to force the Twins to figure it out and give him a chance

Make it 8! This team is officially fun to watch again. They will most assuredly end up falling somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of the horrendous start and the red hot last 3 weeks, and no idea where that'll end up being, but so glad the scales are tipping back the right way again

It's insane we've only managed to pick up like 2-3 games in the division during this entire stretch with the non-Chicago teams playing very nearly just as well as us, but that's out of our control, just good to see the wins flowing again

Absolutely love seeing Keirsey get the walkoff hit today. His numbers are really rough this year, but it's hard to blame him for having a tough time getting going in his first real stint in the majors and not getting any consistent at bats whatsoever (not that he necessarily should be). Really fun for these types of guys to get their moments every now and then. And I have to say, the late game defense we're seeing of Bader, Buck, and Keirsey has to be really high up there on the best outfield defense in team history. Really fun to watch

W10! Including some big moments from unexpected players like Vaz and Clemens in the doubleheader sweep today. Enjoying this run as long as it lasts!
