Default The official Timberwolves/Warriors series thread....

So....who wants to provide some quick analysis....

Warriors won the season series 3-1....splitting two games in SF on back-to-back nights, and then winning both games in Minneapolis. All four games were played before the trade deadline, and both Warriors wins in Minneapolis were without Draymond Green.

For me, the key player in the series is Rudy Gobert.....in the past the Warriors have had success drawing him out into space away from the basket, and they won't hesitate to hack him (like they did Steven Adams) given how bad he is from the free throw line.

Also worth noting is the fact that Buddy Hield shot 13-29 (45%) from deep during the four regular season games between the teams.

should be a fascinating series, so many subplots to go with the main course of Edwards vs. Curry.

Antman, Batman, Superman.... Wolves in 6

Warriors struggled against Houston's 2 big look towards the end of their series. Minny has a ton of size that I think the warriors will have trouble containing. Not to mention Ant isn't going to backdown to Draymond's #@#@#@#@ talking tactics and had a video in the past saying he wants to play the warriors because Draymond talks so much trash. Series price reflects it too. Opened at -140 and is now -175.

Should be a fun watch regardless who wins though

Fully healthy, I'll take the Dubs.

Steph's thumb + the lack of rest makes me want to go Wolves. But I've see this Wolves team make dumb decision after dumb decision when playing the Lakers. I don't think they can get away with that against Steph+Jimmy. I think it's close, I don't think a single game will be a blowout (except maybe the first one).

As a Knicks fan Warriors (and this forum) can ignore Julius Randle and I bet it doesn’t end well for them.

Outside of the center position, Warriors maybe slight edge.

I've noticed Kerr not playing Looney as much as few years back. Has his game dropped off that much? Looney could be a key factor if he can play quality minutes. Can Post be relied upon for quality minutes? Or else they have to rely on Draymond to hold down the fort under the rim - not gonna be easy with Gobert patrolling the paint.

Curry appears to be playing rock solid defense - nice to see. Oh, but wait, Curry can't play defense. Warriors as a whole playing high effort defense - and getting positive results.

It's all about match-ups but, you're right, Looney isn't getting the same minutes as before.

Post stretches the floor with his ability to shoot the 3. Also, over the last few years (pre-Post), Looney was their only reliable big.

I still love Looney, he's been KEY for the Dubs in the past, but he'll never get the same minutes (with the Dubs) he previously got years ago.

If needed, they'll execute this strategy (as they attempted the Hack-A-Adams strategy vs. HOU).

Except rudy is a way better FT shooter than adams (close to 70%) and it already failed against houston

You're right, Gobert has a higher career-FT % than Adams.

However, in regards to the 2024-25 playoffs, Adams has a higher FT %.

Also, the Dubs won the game that they fouled and sent Adams to the line 16 times. I'd considered that a success.

Failure would be a #2 seed losing to a #7 seed (like how the Rockets lost to the Dubs).

No, the Rockets won the game where Adams went to the free throw line 16 times (and made 9)

It was Game 6

Damn, you’re completely right.

Failure is me, misremembering details from different games.

Success is you, humbling me.

I have to stick up for my 20-21 class and go for Ant, McDaniels, and Wolves in 6 or 7. The 'leadership by example' factor is real and as Pacers attest 5th-year vet leadership is the sweet spot.

Huh? They are the 7th seed and had to go through the play-in round to make the playoffs. The Rockets took them to a full seven games. They are the underdogs.

This should be a fun series -- maybe the best remaining match-up of this year's playoffs.

No they aren't, no team with Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green are the underdogs

So you think they're the favorite? They had to go 7 games against the Rockets.

The Wolves dispatched the Lakers in 5.
