Wife went to Long Island for a work function last Monday thru Wed.
I booked the Acela from Providence to Penn Station and then she took the LIRR to get to the event.

Providence is actually 10 more of a drive than Boston but she the traffic trying to get into Boston vs Providence a better selection.

Her return was leaving Penn at 5PM arriving in PVD at 8. I was worried about the dog as he wasn't doing well otherwise I would have brought him with me to pick her up.

Get there at 7:30 and find a spot outside the station, in Boston I would have had to park in a Garage. Probably a minimum of 1/2 to 3/4 mile away with a minimum of $20.

See the board says arriving at 8:45 now. Bummer. Text her and tell her. She says they were stopped for "an electrical issue"

Turns out a wire had snapped and went across a few tracks.....Now I didn't find this out until about 11:30 from an Amtrak officer. The people on the train were not getting any information except for "We are waiting for 2 diesel trains from Boston"

The Arrival time went from 8:45 to 9:00 to 9:30 to 10:30 to 11:00 to 11:59 before the employees left and the board was blank.

They were stopped in Westerly about 35-40 min away. I told her I would come get her. They weren't at a plat form and the yes men on the train kept saying "we will be moving soon"

They ran out of food and drink on the train. Some people did get off and try to get an uber or whatever.

They then told the passengers they would be getting off the train and transferring to another. They all get up to leave and are standing around for 20 minutes before they are told they were NOT changing trains. About 20 people did get off before they shut it down.

Again the passengers are being told NOTHING. THe Amtrak Officer told me that because of the time and where the train originated (Washington DC) the current crew couldn't continue so they had to bring in a brand new crew.

Of course they locked the bathrooms in the station, which I found out when I needed to take a squirt so I asked the cop where I could go without getting arrested. He radioed the only employee in the station who unlocked them. I guess the cleaners lock them at a certain time after the final cleaning and nobody told them.

The train finally got in just before 3AM. As I was pulling into my driveway my alarm to get up for the day went off.

After a nasty complaint they refunded the cost of the return trip.
Incompetence at its finest.

After having to stop playing senior assassin last year because a kid in PA got shot, our school is playing it again. I saw this, I wonder if they will have to stop again.

And yet some people claim we need to electrify every train route in the US to save the planet.

You could skip the parades and put the money toward the home repairs that you say are needed.

Oh, I already decided based on the Government TTMs e-mail yesterday to my boss that I am not sending my employee up to the other office today. I don't care if that makes her mad.

Back yard is fine since we just mowed it Sunday. It's the front that he needs to mow.

Going to parades costs me next to nothing and it is great for my mental health. It is my getaway from the miserable work week and home life.
