Partially correct. Yes Panini 2009, Topps and UD still had a license for most if not all of 2009. Curry UD, Topps cards are NBA licensed with Team Logos on the card. No different than previous years(when cards actually came out before the season) with draft night, photo shoot, college, etc pics. Think Lebron Topps Suit RC. and a multitude of other examples.

Panini became the sole license holder at the start of the 2009-10 season, which began on 27th October 2009.

Topps & Upper Deck were able to release 2009-10 licensed products, in a brief window between the end of the 2008-09 season and the start of the 2009-10 season, but they were done by the end of October when they lost their licenses.

Yep, not disagreeing. I was just saying that Topps did release a licensed/Team logo set in that timeframe. People point to the T-shirt Curry RC like it's proof of some non-lic card or something. It's not .unlike any other of many early release RC's that didn't have NBA uniform pics, but have the NBA team logo on the card.

So look, the main thing is, does Topps have design staff watching actual games? So far, their likenesses have continued a trend of capturing the actual Nesmith spirit better than Panini ever did. But ante up, the most recent Paninis have been classics in their own right. They always did have one or two good designers.

I think that design wise we are in good hands. It's definitely time for a break from Panini licensed. I would say, and I think Fanatics would be amenable to this, start an organic sketch and low-batch incubator program that is unaffiliated and nonprofit, and allows for select artists, designers, and design teams to reach the licensed masses.

Wouldn't mind seeing Stadium Club again if they continue their tradition of using exceptional action/in game photos for the players, and hopefully introduce photo variations like they've done with their recent baseball releases

Has there been any word on 24-25 Topps releases? Since they signed Sarr, Risacher, Holland, others, currently there's no unlicensed 24-25 topps rookie autos of them yet or scheduled. Is it safe to say Topps will release 24-25 AND 25-26 licensed products concurrently?? Or no unlicensed 24-25 products??

Then can Topps even legally release 24-25 licensed products after 1 OCT 2025? At that point, what would stop them from just re-releasing 2023-24 products with the NBA license and jersey.

They can release whatever they want, whenever they want. The licenses specify production/release dates, not product years. The only thing they risk by releasing products for seasons that occurred years ago is the hobby’s trust.

Thanks... so that said, it's likely Topps will either release 24-25 licensed products after OCT, As well as 25-26 products concurrently. OR just a 25-26 product with a double rookie class.

Not sure why Topps wouldn't clearly lay out their plan at their conference. Guess the only thing we know for sure is 25-26 Flagship Topps is coming in OCT.

Topps is Fanatics and that says it all. 10X the hobby one overproduced product at a time.

Topps should just start from scratch and begin with 25-26 products to stay on schedule.

Plus, it’s a top heavier rookie class and 24-25 sucks.

Default Topps confirms NBA license switch 10-1-2025

I think it’s a little naive to think that Fanatics won’t retroactively produce licensed rookie cards of Wemby, CJ, Daniels etc. it doesn’t matter if you personally consider them rookie cards or not, there is money on the table.

There was a slide at the trade conference that provided an initial list of 2025/26 Basketball releases they have in mind post 1st October. I doubt this is the complete list; but all indications are that they are planning to go straight into a full schedule of 2025/26 releases, as soon as they take over the license.

That's what i'm tracking... but why wouldn't they release licensed OR non- licsensed rookie autos of the top 24-25 draft picks they signed.

Maybe they sneak a 24-25 Chrome in before Nov but maybe not. Will be interesting to see how the hobby treats 24-25.

What I'm worried about is Panini exclusive athletes that may now be stuck with their unlicensed stuff after they lose the license

I know Amen is a panini exclusive guy since he hasn't appeared in any of the new topps stuff but maybe his contract will expire in time for next october? Hopefully?

I hope Topps does an NBA Living Set with the 1957 design.

The 1957 design isn't a great design....I'd prefer 71-72 or 72-73.

Would explain why Panini released DECA to milk Prizm one last time since Topps is taking over before Flagg’s rookie year.

They could have released Deca in 2022-23...you know, 10 years after 2012-23 Prizm. But for some reason (Wemby?) they waited till year 11.

Maybe they'll try to squeeze in a product like Deca3 on Sept 30th to get Flagg in there.

Oh yeah 100% if they had their ducks in a row, they could easily get a set out in September. But panini being on the ball???, yeah nothing in recent history says that's a realistic possibility.
