I don't recall that much bad pitching and catching at 14U/Babe Ruth.

Woke up an hour before my alarm and couldn't go back to sleep. Leaving around 9:30 for Apopka. I am curious to see if that extra lane they opened between 27 and the 429 on I-4 relieves any of the big traffic delays in that area. The cynic/normal part of me says no chance.

13 - 16 but when they need players due to lack of 9 showing up for both teams, they will have 12 year old's play. We had 1 on our team last night and the other team had one.

In the pitchers defense, at least when my son is at bat, he stands very close to the plate.

You would think at that age, these kids would hit less people and have less passed balls. I guess that's why only 2 of them were good enough for the middle school team and none are on the high school team.

I was telling my wife how sad it must be for some of the kids on these two teams. Last night's game had 20 kids for both teams and besides myself, there were 4 other parents there (not counting the 3 kids whose Dad's are coaches).

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes - Southern MD edition.

Last night my wife ran a motorcycle MVC call. Charles County Sheriffs had an increased presence in the Indian Head area due to the report of a possible abduction of a 2 year old kid. On 210, a dude on a motorcycle and his buddy in a car were driving along. The police had a possible sighting of the kid and went racing up 210 with sirens and lights flashing. Thinking that they were after him on his motorcycle (it turns out he had no license, no insurance, and expired tags), the dude tried to flee and crashed into his friends car sending him in the air and landing 45 feet away.

Dude ended up with a broken ankle that was visible through the gash in his foot and a few broken ribs. He also ended up with a nice long ride ride to the hospital (the paramedics, my wife, and hospital consulted and deemed he wasn't a fly out candidate) as well as tickets from the cops.

Yeah, that’s an idiot. I will see that coming back from the beach in my early 20s, I was speeding on 501 and saw blue lights flying up on me. I thought they were pulling me over for speeding so I slowed down and moved to the right. Turns out it was 3 state troopers flying to a huge accident just off 501. I slowed way down after that

Really not feeling good today. I think being out in the sun all day getting fields ready on the first hot day of the year was just something my body wasn’t ready for. I had taken today off to go to some card shops but I’m just going to stay home

Well it's good that there is a league for these kids. In many places if you don't make school teams your options are pricey travel ball or nothing. It's really sad to see what's become of Babe Ruth and Legion ball in much of the country. It was on the ropes when my older son was going through in the mid-2010s.
