Only one parallel - a superfractor, which had already been pulled and sold by a dealer on eBay.

IMO, has all the attributes to be an all-time great Ohtani insert commemorating his first year with the dodgers.

So as everyone on here knows I try to monitor Ohtani low and mid end RC prices. Low end RC cards seem to be stable from spring training to slightly up, and mid end prices across the board seem to be going up.

What is everyone else observing at this point?

All the cards I want are either too expensive or sold out. Most of the time both.

I need a another job.

He's not making it easy to get deals on any of his cards, that's for sure!

I've never seen that card before. I did a search after you posted and I saw a pic of the super. Nice card!

Rarity has always dictated price, however, quality has to come into play as well.

Understanding that this is a SSP, but I have to ask with that many surface issues would it still command that price tag?

At these prices if I'm going to pony up for a nice Shohei RC it better be an auto or at least numbered. I would go with the 700 Black out of those 3, or the Independence day you mentioned also. Image variations are cool don't get me wrong, but there's just something magical about the 2018 flagship #'d parallels.

I don't think so. Last two sales of PSA 9s were $3,000 and $3,200. Just have some more patience and an example at a fair price will show up.

700 Black all the way. They are not all that easy to find anymore. heck, one member here owns nine of them i think it is?

700b is reaching another level. PSA 10 is easy five figures range since it's so hard to gem and nobody is opening S2 due to Sho being the only chase (at least update had a bunch of other RCs). I think that card ends up being the one to own long-term. Not sure if you will find one in 3K range with the helium some 9.5 and 10 copies got.

At this point in the RC card market I follow, I don't see any value plays left. I think the trend right now is that low and mid end cards will tick up as high end RC and autos are out of most collectors price range.

My strategy at this point is just to wait until the off season and hopefully find some one off deals.

What off-season? There was literally no dip in 2024 - in retrospect, best time to buy was Nov/Dec and that was on the heels of a WS championship. Only reason to not buy a card you can afford is if you think Sho gets hurt. The fan base is insane - there's solid high-end collector pillars everywhere to hold up his card market. I wish there were more opportunities, but there aren't.
