Default 2025 WNBA Season Thread

Let's get some discussion going on the current season, WNBA cards pickups and price movements, WNBA Topshot, box breaks, and WNBA in general.

Not even close. Hard foul but not worthy of a flagrant.

The Fever are going to be fun to watch and Caitlin Clark Prizm Silver #22 in PSA 10 are going to crack 3K soon. Last comp is 2.8K and each one goes higher.

This article says Panini is keeping WNBA.

A source from Fanatics said that WNBA rights will not come to Fanatics. Panini and Fanatics are still embroiled in competing lawsuits over league and union licenses.

For the first time in my life I watched half of a WNBA opening season game and it didn't kill me

Sophia Cunningham getting the most hyped news of the season. No wonder the Suns were not focused.

The OF crossover was about 5 years overdue.

WNBA finally caring about viewership revenue.

The last couple of days have been... interesting.

First Kahleah Copper has her wig come off during a game. They actually stopped play (they don't stop play when someone loses a shoe) then they ejected a fan who was laughing and made a comment about it near the Mercury bench.

Tonight was even better. During the Atlanta Dream game someone just launched a neon green dildo from the nosebleed section that landed near the freethrow line, bounced several times then rolled for a bit before coming to rest and the camera man actually got a good close up of it.

The WNBA is definitely entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons.

The playoffs begin in about an hour and the 1 question I have is does anyone even care?

It has been glaringly obvious that the longer Caitlin's injury dragged on the less interest there has been in the WNBA. Not just the fans but also people following, reporting, and analyzing on sports shows and youtube and it really fell off a cliff when it was finally announced CC was done for the season.
I found the people I usually watched were reporting less and some people like Jason Whitlock came right out and said he was done discussing the WNBA, PERIOD.

The ratings will be... interesting. The last game of the season was the Aces vs. Sky which drew just 90k viewers and attendance was just about 50% for the game, despite tickets being as low as $6.

The first game last year between the Fever and Sun drew 1.8m viewers, I somehow doubt we'll see numbers remotely close to that this year.

Having the playoffs against NFL today does it no favors. MLS playoffs have the same issues regarding playoffs competing against football.

I'm glad I'm not watching these games. Just checked the scores and the Lynx blew out the Valkyries by 29 and the Fever were only down 5 heading into the 4th and gave up a 9-0 run to start in a low scoring game that is apparently slow and boring to watch.
I can't wait to see the ratings for these games.

Why bother with any of this if it makes you so miserable?

I was listening to the Lynx while cleaning the garage. They were down by 8. I stopped listening. Later, I asked my kid if he knew how they did. He said they blew GS out. I was surprised a little.

Pretty much. Most of the WNBA stuff throughout the season was posted in the CC thread, and some in the PB thread. Most people don't really care about the league in general.
