I always find it interesting how beisball stans view career success through a longevity lense, but bball stans historically have viewed highest sustained peak, although KANG stans are trying their darndest to change that narrative.

Trout was the player of the decade for the 2010s. Carried the torch well.

His BCA was below November, 2018 to start the year. I'm sure it's only gone down from there.

People need to be careful when talking about peak Covid pricing. Most of Trout's decline has just been the decline in the overall market. If he's down 85% from peak, I'd say 75% of that loss is market related. Virtually everybody is down from that point. In fact, if you are only down 50% you've been a superlative performer. Even guys like Lindor, Mookie and Soto are down 60%. Heck, CJ Abrams is off by 85% and he's currently sitting with an OPS+ of 162 and looking at a potential 30/30 from a 24 year old SS.

Trout is going to be a very interesting case study for the hobby.

He’s Pujols light to me, both on and off the field. Pujols’ durability at least allowed him to play for two decades and rack up huge counting stats doing so. Trout doesn’t look like he’s going to hit any counting milestones of significance.

Glad I ditched almost all of my RC's back in 2020/2021. The only thing I kept was a BGS 9.5 eTopps, just because it's a cool card (and I sold the other 4 eTopps I had).

IMO, he will need to be near 2,300 hits or he will be the lowest non catcher to be voted in on the first ballot and I don’t see that occurring. I’m not sure he is able to reach 2,000 and in no way does he receive the votes in his first attempt if he ends short. It may take multiple years on the ballot if he is under 2,000.
