Default Two Koufax autos crossed over from PSA "TRADING CARD" holders are back...

I decided to see what card grades these would get....and confirm they would get number grades. Success!

Was hoping for a '3' on the '66.

I thought this was a strong '3'

Nice to get them both back with number grades on the cards, and no funny stuff with the previously-PSA-authenticated autos.

Note - for those not aware of the difference, the 'TRADING CARD' label is used when only the autograph is authenticated. For both of these, the card was not authenticated nor was it deemed to be un-altered. So that's the risk with buying the 'TRADING CARD' slabs. PSA/DNA dual grade should be preferred for that reason.

...but whether the card grade and/or auto grade show as 'authentic' or a number grade....that's another topic.

What's so off with that Koufax to make it a 2. The bottom corner is a bit rounded, but that seems harsh from the picture unless there are back issues.

Looks like a 4-5 to me. Would they be counting the ball-point pen indentations against the card condition?

The "Trading Card" designation really bothers me. I would have done the same thing.

There is a wrinkle off the lowest point on the signature near the edge of the card.

There's a small wrinkle near the upper left corner

There's a dented edge -- really only affects the front surface, not noticed on the back.

All the corners have the sort of dented look to them where there's more than just the soft tips. There's some signs of maybe the card was flipped/tossed and landed on the corners, but that damage to the surface can't easily be seen in a bright 2-D scan.

One corner on the reverse has some paper loss/peeling near the tip.

Another small wrinkle on the back

I think it's just a lot of very minor defects adding up. But I think a '3' would have been fair as well.

I just came across this one today. Now that looks like a '2' (maybe even a 1.5, but the surface is probably close to clean for the grade)

Your 2 are beautiful.
I don’t like the signature on that Koufax you just posted. Surprised PSA gave it thumbs up.

Yeah, even if real it's so sloppy I'm surprised they even made a determination. Eyesore of an autograph.

It sold for $630 (the one I linked above).

I'm still hoping to find a nice looking signed '56....but I fear it will be quite expensive at auction.
