Well, when I go to Starbucks, I want to enjoy my Hot Chocolate without being harassed by the manager because I am “not a customer” so I cant use the bathroom while I wait.

When I go to my local gas station I dont want to be targeted by the cashier and his boss because they dont like me.

When I go to the bar I want to sit in peace and listen to music I played on the jukebox without getting harassed by a drunk lady and her lover.

When I’m driving down the street I dont want anyone to spit on my windows because they are having a bad day or because they think I cut them off.

When I’m eating at the local restaurant I dont want some weirdo staring at me and acting like he knows me and he is going to beat me up.

All of this happened recently, I kid you not. Shall I go on?

So what? You have a right to just walk away from those situations if you don't like them. Just like people who don't want to be around jerks online are free to remove themselves from that site. Sometimes dealing with jerks in the real world is as simple as choosing not to be where they are.

I have been to last several Dallas shows. Unfortunately the prices are very unreasonable, much worse than eBay, which doesn't make intuitive sense to me for vintage.

There’s a handful of people on here that could really use therapy, or need to start journaling or whatever it takes to stop dragging their real life misery on to a forum for collecting tiny pictures of men. I’m trying to take a break from the stress and politics and BS that infects every other corner of the internet.

It’s also a failure at the mod/admin level.

There are hundreds of threads here that would accomplish that goal for you. Why pick the one where you already know by the title that economics and politics is bound to be brought up? I see "state of the hobby" and my mind thinks "state of the union". There's going to be a correlation between the economy at large and the economy of the card market and that's why these things get discussed. It's not like every thread goes this direction. I'd guess a tiny % of threads here ever touch on those topics.

But much like car accidents, I think too many people can't help themselves but to take a peek.

That seems like the norm for so many card shows. Have you tried asking the dealers if they will work with you on the price? I negotiated with a dealer at a show on a card where his sticker price was $200 and after a couple of back and forth offers, we settled on $135. The card very rarely comes up (or so I have been told) and I was happy to snag it.
