The Los Angeles Angels are calling up infielder Christian Moore, who they took with the No. 8 pick in the 2024 draft, sources say. Moore, 22, has mashed in the minors and played only 20 games at Triple-A and becomes the latest player to aggressively move through the Angels’ system.

I love it! I halfway expected it at the end of last year. He will be solid for them. I think he was one of the better all around hitters in the draft. Series 1 is going to look really nice with these rookies.

We should have a thread for send downs. If anybody thinks the reason Francisco Alvarez was shipped to AAA is for any other reason than an extra year of control, I have some oceanfront property to sell you here in Tempe.

I'm sure hitting .236 with only 3 hr and 38 k's in only 35 games plus the fact he can't block a ball in the dirt for #@#@#@#@ had nothing to do with it. He's only 23 but we are quickly coming up on the point where you have to start talking about him being a bust at least in New York.

Despite "only" hitting .234, his OPS+ is 10 points higher than their 2nd best option. From a WAR perspective the top two options are equal so far this year. From a projected WAR perspective Alvarez is the superior option. And the guy they called up to take is place is literally replacement level.

I can assure you that if Alvarez were already under a long term contract he wuold not be in the minors right now. This is service time manipulation pure and simple.
