My fire truck trip to North and South Carolina was productive.

Tuesday, I struck out at the volunteer department like I thought I would.

Went to Leland, NC, but they were training, so I only got photos of two engines outside.

Went to Boiling Spring Lakes where the Chief had everything out at the 1st station. I then followed him driving the one engine at Mach 50 around one lane backroads to get to the main station. He had another guy drive me over to the 3rd station in their brush truck.

Went to Southport where the guy who wrote me back failed to tell anyone I was coming by. They had training on a new computer system that was boring, so I had an officer gladly pull everything out. I also got a few pieces from the other stations that were their for training. They also had Bald Head Islands new engine and ladder that we saw at the plant in Florida there getting final work done before taking the ferry to their new home.

Oak Island was a bust as they were leaving to do inspections. I did get an engine and the tower.

Tri-Beach was good and got 2 of 3 stations. It starting raining when I went to the 3rd station. Got lunch, but it was still raining.

Hit Horry County in SC and got Station 2 after the rain. Went to the marina on the same street and got their fire boat. Then I got North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad and the Horry County ambulance there. I also got North Myrtle Beach fire station 3.

I spent most of Wednesday at the convention center with 2 friends from the area photographing the fire trucks and ambulances moving in for the convention.

I also took a ride out to north western Horry County and photographed a station I hadn't gotten to last time.

Then I went to the Loris Fire Department which is the only volunteer department in the county that isn't Horry Fire Rescue. After the guy pulled the 1st engine back in, an old guy came back with the small rescue they have. As he was backing it into the station, he nailed the rear bumper on the poles that protected the brick of the building. He hit it really good too. Loud noise and lots of rear bumper damage.

Thursday I did most of the Georgetown County fire stations although rain interrupted 2 of them. I also tried Georgetown City, but they were training. I couldn't get the 2 engines at one station because the guy claimed they were dirty. They looked fine to me. One station, a guy thought I was one of my friends that lives down there.

Thursday night I went to dinner with my friend and his wife. We never got to the last Murrells Inlet station like we were supposed to.

Friday, on the way home, I stopped by one of the stations in Hanover County, VA that has an Pierce Ascendant Tower. After the guy called the PIO for confirmation, I was able to photograph that and the ambulance at the station.

Friday night, I met up with our department folks that had brought stuff for the Colonial Beach parade. Parade had some new stuff in it, but was shorter than last year. I did meet a new apparatus photographer from Fairfax County.

Saturday, I drove about 14 1/2 hours round trip to go to the Hudson Valley Parade in Lake George. I wish I could have taken my wife up there and stayed over as she would love the shops and restaurants in town. The river boat ride would have been nice too. The parade is there again next year, so I think I might see if we can dfo a weekend getaway for two.

For Father's Day we went to Texas Roadhouse early to dinner. Got two new work shirts, some fast food gift cards for my trips, and the Jango Fett LEGO helmet.

Monday we drove down to Ocean City. We ate lunch at the convention center and looked around the expo. My wife had a class in the afternoon. While she was in class, I received an e-mail saying our condo was ready early. Our Son and I went and checked in, brought everything up to the room, and made the beds before she got out of class and joined us.

We had three tickets to the PL Custom customer party, so we went there and ate and had a beer. Then we went to the family night event at Jolly Rogers. Our Son spent the evening on the rides with some of his friends while we relaxed and talked to their parents.

Tuesday was a pool day in the morning. Pizza at Dough Rollers for lunch. Then I photographed the apparatus moving out with a friend of mine. Dinner was a buffet and then we played miniature golf.

We were about 4 holes from the finish when I heard a foire alarm going off. As we got closer to the front, I noticed it was the business next to the mini golf and people were evacuating. I just finished the last hole (yes, I won as always) when I heard the sirens. Went out front and caught on video the arrival of the engine and tower.

Wednesday morning we ate breakfast at Dough Rollers. My wife dropped me off at my usual spot for the parade. While I waited, I caught on video a medical call at the hotel across from me with engine and ambulance arriving and then a fire alarm call at a hotel a block away with engine and tower arriving.

The parade was a total disappointment. It was only 45 minutes this year for the entire state.

After they picked me back up, we went to the outlet mall in Delaware and then had dinner at Bull on the Beach.

We left Thursday morning and came home to dog crap in our dining room. The MIL was supposed to stay at our house and watch the dog. She was supposed to come back Saturday from her boyfriends and that didn't happen. Then she was supposed to come back Sunday, but his kids were doing a Father's Day thing for him. Then, she was supposed to come back before 5 on Monday. She didn't end up getting back until 9PM Monday night, so the dog went from 7AM to then without going outside or food. She pee'd on the living room carpet and I don't know how the idiot MIL didn't smell the poop or why she would leave it there for 3 more days.

Well, the dog was messed up after that and kept pooping in the house Friday and Saturday. It wasn't until my wife bought a steam cleaner from Amazon and steam cleaned the carpet Saturday evening that she stopped doing it.

Since my wife decided we should take Friday off, I got my X-rays and blood work done. Then the three of us went to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico.
