Default Breaker stickers on a one touch holder

Are an immediate sign to never buy that card. Would you ever buy them?

Right card at the right price? Sure. Why wouldn’t I?

*Except if it’s a BYB sticker.

I guess it does depend on the price and availability. The repack and breaker stickers just scream “this card has hidden flaws”. I trust a card in a toploader more.

I just purchased a cruddy TAG slab for the rare card inside. Only reasons were because the card is super rare and the price was right

At least ugly ass breaker stickers can be easily peeled off.

Yeah because they usually end cheaper than when I lost the exact same card to the repacker a month or two prior.

Just got an Amen Thompson 2023 Mosaic Stained Glads rc, bought it because they’re a tough find and it was a reasonable price.

Is there an unknown inability to cut the sticker and remove the card?

I guess there are two reasons the breaker sticker is on there.

1. Person bought a break, got a card, selling card.
2. Breaker has card, checks quality for grading, find it's in piss poor condition, slaps breaker sticker on it and adds it to their repack inventory.

#2 is exactly what enters my mind every time I see cards like this. I’m not a "must grade everything" kind of collector; I appreciate raw cards just fine. I also appreciate honesty and transparency. To me, those stickers are like a no trespassing sign.

Could argue it may go for a cheaper price if the buyer needed to recoup their funds lost from the break quickly. Credit card bills and all that.

Are we getting breaker and repacker confused? Maybe some do both but if a breaker is stickering cards for promotional purposes then I'm assuming those cards were never owned by the breaker in the first place. They were part of the break, shipped to the customer, and the customer is reselling it. If it is a repacker sticker ie. Arena Club, etc. then I could understand worrying about cherry picking since you would assume repackers would want to sub gem-quality stuff to improve their checklists.

I've had some show up in collections I purchased and the condition hasn't been a problem. And if the card was part of a break and the customer didn't break the seal, I'd trust it even more. If BO stereotypes are any indication, the customer has no interest in grading anyway. They would be flipping a big hit to fund more breaks.

Price is everything. Completed my 1960 Topps baseball set by buying a 1960 Mantle 350 graded by KSA as a 5 for $225. Cracked it, sent it in to PSA, came back a 4. Its a $500-600 card in that condition.

Breaker sticker is meaningless to me as long as its not on the card itself.

Those breaker stickers are a good source of DNA. I put them in evidence bags and send them to the FBI to check against databases of unsolved crimes.

I don't buy into breaks, but from what I have seen breakers put the nicer cards in one touches when pulled and then put their sticker on it for marketing purposes. Why would they inspect the card for grading if it belongs to whatever person purchased that spot? There is all kinds of shady stuff in this hobby, but I don't see how this is one of them. I think this falls more into the category of paranoia and lumping unrelated things into the breaker hate agenda. Hate them for the actual shady stuff they do. Plenty of that available.

In the past, it was primarily for marketing purposes, as most pack-pulled hits would go directly into the one-touch and get the breaker sticker immediately after, as premium stated.

It does become a bit more questionable lately with breaker-created breaks where the product does not come directly from cases but from individual cards purchased for breaks which can indeed be placed into a one-touch with the breaker adding their marketing sticker.

I take every card out of whatever it's delivered and if possible and thin enough it goes in a semi rigid unless it's one of those panini or topps that are sealed up like black or clearly authentic or whatever they are called. I personally hate one touches and I hate dirty top loaders or ones with the sellers/breakers stickers all over. I have about 15 one touches and around 700-800 used top loaders to get rid of. So I don't really care what a seller does because I'm just going to get rid of it anyway. my razor blades and scissors get good work outs weekly.

100% correct. These are repacks, and I would absolutely assume the worst on those cards.
