"Little Old Lady collects harder than PuddleMonkey" should be the new name of the thread.

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

Lesson....collect cards in the late 90's and early 2000's when wax was super cheap to buy, had low print runs and had great hits in them and get lucky there are many great players from this time period.

Do not collect during the junk wax era (unless buying Michael Jordan Star and 86 Fleer cards). And certainly don't buy wax now!

There's likely about 60-70(ish) % left, at some point you just have to tap out and begin to start sorting what you have. Waiting to hear from him & his family on what they would like to do next.

In terms of relative learning, this was an unfortunate individual that clearly had a great deal of mental health issues. One who who self-medicated through hoarding in excess, and prioritized their cards over their own well being. They clearly loved Boston sports, all teams, era's and players. Clearly cast a wide net in terms of what they collected, I don't think she ever knew what she had in terms of value just sitting around. She collected SI magazines as well, so I assume she just looked for the names that popped up in there as well as the popular names that came up during highlights.

The McDavid I believe was just sitting in an old Upper Deck tin, as for the rest of the cards. Found stuff in piles, bins, binders, and just frankly all over the place.

The Curtis Enis PMG for example, was in what looked like an old tackle box. Was in the same container as the Jerry Rice refractors and the Cowboys autographs.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but is that Jordan a Prime Choice Reserve? It looks like it. If so, that is a monster card.

Out of all the cards in this thread is it sad that that one caught my eye the most? It almost has to be a PCR based on that picture but nobody commenting on it had me thinking I was seeing things

Haha, same here. It was the one that stood out to me. I guess because I am constantly on the look out for the Larkin and have literally never seen one. Of all the 90s cards, those are the ones most likely to have ended up in a junk base card box and lost forever.

It looks like it's just the Choice Reserve version which is much more common. But ya, if that's the #/100 version then it's a pretty big card

Yeah, I can't tell. I tried to zoom in. The "prime" is always so small and faint and doesn't always show in pictures, and the rest is so similar.

I would definitely ask the family if they be interested in doing a story for Chasing Cardboard. I know they'd be respectful in telling the story that very well could help someone out there. Just what you posted is really intriguing. I'd personally like to know at what point the family felt things may have turned for her. I have an extended family member that was never the same when the patriarch of their family passed away suddenly. My Aunt became a hoarder, her sons fought and had their own issues, I've always felt it was because of my Uncle passing. They seemingly never recovered or got help for it. I'm not saying something like that happened but like I said, maybe it could help someone. On the other end of the spectrum, I have an in-law that just loves to rip. She's a great grandmother and she had a crazy Kobe collection with late 90's inserts and autographs. She was a Lakers fan 100% and kept them in binders. Just a collector through and through.

Thanks for helping out and I'm shocked that only 30% of what she has.

Plot Twist Twist, she was the ring leader of every stolen card/card shop/mail/convention theft!

I mean, it's like every card anyone ever wanted is here just sitting around in pages, boxes, books, under a couch, taped to a ceiling fan.

still just amazing what you keep uncovering. I need a new mouse scroll wheel.

No kidding! It seems like there's gotra be more to the story than just a hoarder. You think a hoarder would have some junk wax as well but this is all straight fire.

Judging by the amount of cards we’ve found, I doubt they had the self control to not open anything 🤣

True but what about junk sets or just some 1990 fleer, donruss, or score singles? Like some Kevin Maas rookies or something.

Thank you for all the updates and photos of this find, very cool you are assisting them get these back out to collectors.

I imagine you are getting smoked with DMs here and socials. If/when you run across them, I am a haggle-free buyer always looking for a range of Yadier Molina, Wainright, Edmonds, Rolen, Pujols, and several other Redbirds from 2001-2012.

Perhaps she stashed away a few of them as a reminder of how the Red Sox thrashed them in 04 and 13...

One thing i noticed thats odd is 99% of the stuff posted is at minimum 10 years old, then all of a sudden a Caminero RC from last year.

Did this little old lady inherit this stuff from a spouse that simply died before her?
