Haven't seen the trailer for Badlands yet, but did read the "premise"...and yes...I agree...seems...pretty sad

It's a shame...as they are all directed by the same person..and after Prey, that was promising
They also tied into "Prey" at the end of the animated feature by showing its protagonist in the Predator jail.

"Prey" was so well-received, the thought was that they'd missed out on decent box-office grosses by releasing it directly to Hulu, so now they want to try and get some of that cinema cash this time around.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Normal Drop:
A 50% drop in revenue from the first to second weekend is often considered typical and expected.
Strong Hold:
A drop of less than 50% is considered a strong hold, meaning the movie is performing well beyond its opening weekend.
Weak Hold:
A drop of greater than 60% is considered a weak hold, indicating that the movie may not have staying power at the box office.

Example:
"Superman" saw a 54% drop in its second weekend, which was considered an average decline for a big summer film, according to WDSU.
Impact:
A strong second weekend hold is a good indicator of a film's overall success, while a significant drop can signal a weaker performance.

Holy AI slop. A 50% drop for a movie that made north of $100M in its opening weekend is incredibly good.

Yeah it’s a cobbled together rush job with an agenda. The funniest part is Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt didn’t even film all of their scenes together which is really jarring as a viewer. Apparently her and Sarah Michelle Gellar hating each other being one of the reasons.

Happy Gilmore 2...

Not nearly as good as the 1st, of course...but still a decently good time

And a loooooong casting list...also good to see celebrities/athletes have fun and show some personality

Grandma's Boy being free on YouTube is going to get watched a lot by me. I love that movie, probably one of my top 8 or 9 favorite comedies. I love that the actor who plays JP is a main character in one of the top grossing movie franchises ever. Glow up.

Yeah the cast said they couldn’t stop laughing when he was in character. Didn’t realize how bad it did in theaters vs dvd sales. Fun movie

JP is an amazing character and the scene in the beginning with Alex and his friend's mom, what a way to start a movie.

Happy Gilmore 2 - Fun movie and of course it's not gonna be as good as the original. Was great seeing the current PGA pros show off their comedic side, especially Scottie Scheffler. Tons of call-backs to the original with some adding to the humor while others seemed forced.

Locked - Cool premise but in the end a terrible movie.

Yeah way too forced. 2/10 for me. I get the nostalgia side of it but it was a terrible movie. Wasn’t even expecting much and it delivered. Just shouldn’t have been made. Ah well

Most Adam Sandler movies are terrible though.

Only ones I can tolerate are

Happy Gilmore
Wedding Singer
Waterboy (But I have to be in the mood, his voice is nails on a chalkboard)

And that's it

Saw Superman thinking being 3 weeks in I would almost have the theater to myself but boy was I wrong. I was quickly reminded why I don't go to the movies much anymore people talking and checking their phones every 3 sec. and there were 3 young kids if I had to guess 8-10 yrs old that kept jumping up and switching seats which was really annoying. The movie itself was a lot better than I thought it would be even if Superman's parents ended up being evil planetary warlords who sent their kid to Earth to kill everyone , Krypto had ADHD and Supergirl is a raging achoholic.

I give it a 7.8/10

I heard about Superman’s parents sending him to earth to rule over it before the movie came out. I couldn’t believe it and it made me think Gunn missed the mark. Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong and that setup led to the ending being 10x more touching. It’s rare that I see a movie and the more I think about it, the more I love it l, but Superman has easily done that.

Yeah it’s either hit or miss with his stuff. Especially as he ages. The late 90s early 2000s was his best run.

I went in with very low expectations and didn't mind it, felt kinda old wondering if I was seeing cameos of people I should know, but didn't...

The Scheffler stuff was probably my favorite part of the whole movie, good for him for going with it all...

It honestly felt like something the PGA Tour gave Netflix and Adam Sandler a billion under the table to just make the whole movie about how LIV TOUR sucks...

For two hours in the comforts of my own home on a Friday it was fine, not sure I'd feel that same way if I spent $40 and went to the theater...

Reports Superman will surpass $500 million in it's 3rd weekend. Needing about $100 million more to hit it's break even point. People are expecting it to finish around $650-700 million worldwide. So should break even and maybe turn a very small profit.

$500 millions was the "break even" point...not counting today, it squeaked by at $503 million

Meanwhile...Marvel and Fantastic 4 said hold my beer..

Already in 2 days + early screenings...$218 million, just $2 million shy of Supermans opening, with Sunday left

Have to see if it has staying power...although it doesn't have much competition coming it seems

Bad Guys 2, Naked Gun, Freakier Friday, Nobody 2....doesn't seem like stiff competition even over the next month

Should do well. Superman overseas has been slow as Superman has always been seen as an American hero and with anti-American views in much rest of the world Superman being an American hero is not seen well.

Just an FYI, when you see the $218 million, that is inclusive of Sunday predicted totals. I believe that is short of Superman’s take, at least domestic. Worldwide is just showing a massive disinterest in superhero movies. Endgame made over $600 million in China, F4 made something like $5 million in its opening weekend. Sucks because the quality across the board seems to be picking up but people just got burned out.

I'll eventually see it but from the clips I've seen online I just can't get past the fact that Galactus moves like a stiff ass toy robot.
