Default Jordan Star RC Question…

Need some help from fellas way more knowledgeable than me on this card. Buddy has had this card for decades. We knew it was authentic. Sent it off to BGS for grading thinking we’d be looking at a 4-5 and unfortunately we got the dreaded Authentic/Altered. Card was definitely not altered but I know these are notorious for bad cuts from the sheet and a lot end up with the AA label. Question is, does anyone have any experience, or maybe heard stories, of people cracking and resubmitting to get an actual grade instead of the AA on this specific card? Trying to find value on this is next to impossible since AA grades are all over the place and this one doesn’t really have the greatest eye appeal (mostly corner issues). Would y’all set a floor and try to sell as is or keep paying the fee and try to get an actual grade?

Great time to sell, probably get easily 10k. It's probably a 3 if not altered.

Did you check for red marker? If you can see it definitely don't resubmit they'll just catch it again. Most likely lol

$100 bill tucked behind the card when resubmitting helps, good luck!

When you graded, where/how did Beckett say it was altered? They usually include a little card saying what was altered on it.

I figure you don't have anything really to lose by resubmitting. Like you said, Star cards were notorious for being miscut. It's dumb that you have to resubmit, but it depends on who grades it and the experience they have with them. I once had a Star Gatorade and Miller Lite come back as trimmed when I knew they hadn't been. I resubbed and they were given a number grade. I'd give it a shot as long as you know for sure that it hasn't been trimmed.

That's a good thing Beckett does. After looking at the bottom of the card, it looks wonky. The first impression is someone trimmed it to lessen the appearance of the corner damage.

It really sucks when cards that are miscut during these time periods get labeled as altered. Good luck. Great card.

These broders were all over the place centering wise. Looks fine to me, but you're never going to receive 100% accord from different BGS graders on these things, even if it is legit.

I'd try cracking and resubbing if it isn't too cost prohibitive. Worst case is it comes back altered again and he'll still get paid handsomely for it.

It doesn’t look short to me. It should not cost that much to resubmit to BGS.

Even the fastest Priority sub will only cost $125. Though it's the insurance cost that kills you...

If i'm not mistaken, this card is notorious for being smaller than standard size top-bottom right out of the bag, sometimes by a good margin. It could very well be just that. Or maybe something more the grader saw.

I wish I kept my BGS 6.5. Think i sold it for like $1.5k way back in the days LOL.

Your correct, but BGS is well aware of that.I would try and find out from BGS what caused the Alt.Could be something they saw on the cut.im sure only select trained graders get the star stuff, especially the 101 so i doubt it was a grader being new. That left edge looks off, both corners are damaged and the left boarder is really thin while the right looks close to centered.
