Congrats, TJ.
That was an inflection point in my collection where I started doing my first major rotation from a whole lot of PSA 10 Base and Rookies to the more rare stuff. Print runs were up and there was just so much pouring out for the Zion market that I felt it all just couldn't last. I mean, how does a Zion rookie with a PSA 10 population of over 23,000 hold a $600 price level? Or how does a Kevin Durant TC PSA 10 with a population of 1,100 stay about $10k? Luckily Mahomes never had anything printed as widely at the Zion.

But switching gears a bit, I do see some of this now in the market. As I'm watching on Instagram everyone's National pick ups, there's just so much crap that can't matter in the long run going for big money. How does a Terry Bradshaw Downtown hold up going for $300+? I think the overall important and rare stuff continues to do well, but man, I'm seeing some warning signs similar to 2020-21 on some of the more common stuff.

2018 was a great time to buy Mahomes

I can't even imagine what it was like buying him in 2017 while he was riding the bench

My jaw will never not fall to the floor whenever I see this post. Absolutely gut wrenching.

Realistically, how many more rings do you see Mahomes winning?

I think floor is 2 and ceiling is 4

The floor is 0 nothing is a guarantee and ceiling is 2. Far away from the 5 more he needs to enter the GOAT conversation.

He needs 10 more seasons of consistent play, he must be good “at the end” just like Brady was. And he needs 1 more ring in that 10 seasons, preferably towards the end like Brady so his story ends with a high note.

If you ask a casual the best QBs of all time they will say Montana and Brady, I think Mahomes needs a 4th ring to be on that list.

Check out playoff stats ..he clears everyone …as long as he keeps this pace, it’s not a matter of if..at worst, he is top 3 already if he quits today..ex: he already passed Montana in playoff Ws

The floor is zero.

Winning in the NFL is hard.

He needs 1 more SB to cement himself in the GOAT conversation all-time. The 3-peat would've given him something over the other GOATs. Bummed he didn't get that one. But the 2-peat was unexpected and happened during "retooling" years post-Tyreke so who knows what the next 5 years looks like as they build up the team!

The best thing about making the SB 3 years in a row is he prevented the other QBs of his generation that had a chance to catch-up out of the SB. Allen is a great QB but he'll have to go on a massive streak to catch up now. Same with Lamar. Burrow is stuck on a crappy franchise and needs 2 SB wins to get into positive SB win territory. All of that is highly unlikely even if Mahomes doesn't win for a while so Mahomes stands alone at the top of current players and this generation.

Each "GOAT" has their own thing:

Brady has 7 rings. Might not ever be beaten.
Montana was 4-0 in SBs.
Mahomes has 3 rings and a 2-peat but he's going to need something else that Brady and Montana didn't do. He's easily got the best highlight reel of this group and arguably changed the way the QB position is played (like Curry in the NBA) but I think he needs some stat that is easy to compare against Brady and Montana. Maybe double-digit straight AFCC appearances in a loaded AFC?

IMO another SB win puts him over Montana because getting to 6 SBs and winning 4 is better than getting to 4, but I know that's a tough sell to casuals who prefer first round exists over championship losses.

Mahomes doesn’t need to be the goat to have his cards stay high or move up…he just has to be the goat of this nfl era ..which should be almost cemented by now…but he does have a decent shot at Brady…mahomes recently said he plans on 10-15 yrs..I like his odds …remember how much curry is collected and he’s no goat..mahomes and curry will be paninis marquee guys..the hobby boomed during mahomes tenure..in nba its MJ, curry, Kobe, Lebron ..in football, it’s still only Brady and mahomes

And keep in mind, the Panini era is the era of the NFL.

More people watched the Hall of Fame game this year that the all but a few NBA playoff games. This era is to the NFL what the 90s were to the NBA and the 1950s to MLB.

That's good for Mahomes, Brady, and anyone else who can really stand out.

Very true…NFL is getting bigger as we speak even though we feel it’s already too big…the nfl cards still have a lot to catchup relative to nba high end cards…it’s only a matter of time when the tide changes to high end nfl collectors ..of course nba is more global but let’s not act like the deep pocket guys don’t reside in the US..that’s all that matters, deep pocket guys is where you follow and that’s always been in the US

I see the fact that NFL is not as global as opportunity.

NBA wasn't very global in the 90s.

It'd be cool to see it go head-to-head with the Flawless /25

Patrick Mahomes has a passer rating of 86.9 with 1,328 yards, 10 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 5 games in Super Bowls in his career. (3-2 record)

Good point Kermit has stunk it up in the Super Bowl could just as easily be 0-5 so close to being Jim Kelly 2.0
