Default eBay Price Rationale - too funny

Kids, don’t do drugs. No low ball offers, I know what I have!

“ The 2025 Bowman Chrome Nick Kurtz Autographed GOLD LAVA REFRACTOR trading card, with a limited print run of 50, is a rare gem for baseball enthusiasts. This card, featuring Nick Kurtz's authentic autograph, is a valuable addition to any collection due to its high-quality construction, serial numbering, and rookie insert status. However, the current asking price appears unrealistic, given the lack of demand. Establishing a price that showcases my confidence in the product, effectively precluding its transfer to another party. It will be interesting to see if the card attracts attention due to its pricing strategy, whether attractively priced or unusually valued. It is indeed gold after all. This calculation is straightforward. The value of my card is calculated by multiplying 36/50 by $100, which equals $365,000, however the calculation provided yields $365,000 The range spans from $15,000 for a 1/50 card to $505,000 for a 50/50 card. Considering the context, sales at this range seem unlikely, and holding appears certain. I suggest the remaining 49 owners of 50 gold cards join forces to determine the number of card holders in possession of their cards and those still sealed in packs. Let's enhance our cards to unmatched standards. The worst possible outcome would be a genuine buyer, but I wouldn't think anyone would be content with the price obtained.”

I like it. These are the people that buy pre-sells with no checklist. I need these people in the hobby.

36 / 50 x $100 = $72

Go look at the description now, seems like they are adding every persons offer message, etc. I was going to offer $5 but this person is on drugs or mentally unstable it seems..

Bro, isn’t unstable. He’s having fun. A long while back, I didn’t do exactly what this guy did, but I wrote absurd item descriptions for cards I was selling as a creative writing project. I didn’t sell the card, but I got a writing job because of it.

It's basically a call to get other sellers to push their prices of Kurtz's cards higher -- it's a pump listing.

No mention of why his cards deserve to be pumped -- just an attempt at market manipulation.

Perhaps the real takeaway is how serious people take themselves in messaging sellers on ebay

This was what I took from it as well. It was obvious in the original description he was just posting the card with a high asking price to field offers, and was having fun with the description. Then when a bunch of blowhards messaged him, he got to take his fun to an even higher level.

But the same Nick Kurtz purple auto /250 that he has listed is available for $329.00 (with free shipping).
Seems like a bargain!

If I start a card at auction and let's say it routinely sells for $200, and some halfwit throws me an offer of $40, I will usually counter at $40,000,000 and inform them that I know I am too high, they are obviously too low, that we can probably reach some realistic agreement if they actually look at sale prices and offer accordingly.

Have fun with it

I put a picture of my pug in one of my listings. And of course had to put a disclaimer in all caps "STEWIE THE PUG NOT INLCUDED!!!"

My initial thought on the original was that it was AI gone crazy.

This is the seller stating they are using the listing as a promotional stunt to pump up the value:

It seems like a poor translation, with the noun "product" being used to describe the listed card, but it's clear what they mean.
