Oh my lord they're keeping the freaking team. So much for any truly competitive baseball in the next 10 years. What a complete and utter disgrace.

"Looking for new investors". Who the hell is going to want to invest in this team with the Pohlads still owning it??

They feel the passion.

No, they’re still making money.

Boycott these ghouls.

I know it's a drop in the bucket, but I've talked to 3 different season ticket holders since this morning, all of whom are boycotting. This is the first year I can remember not attending a Twins game. What an awful turn of events for Twins fans.

I had a friend do the same. He wrote a nastygram to them and the message they wrote back was just PR bs that stated nothing.

In other news, is it 9 straight losses to the Yankees now?

So basically they couldn't find a buyer and keeping controlling interest which means nothing is going to change. Just fixing the bottom line more is how I read it.
“This ownership group is committed to building a winning team and culture for this region, one that Twins fans are proud to cheer for,” the Pohlads said.

I have no words.

The Pohlads significantly damaged the Twins brand by giving away the team. I actually wonder if any potential sale to a majority stakeholder was tanked by the fire sale.

“This ownership group is committed to building a slightly above average team, one that Twins fans will partially fill the stadium for profit” is what the Pohlads should've said if they wanted to be honest for once

Has a AAA team ever outdrawn its parent club?

I will say, the Pohlads' ability to continually fall remarkably short of even the most minimal of non existent expectations is truly something

At the end of the day, professional sports teams are a limited commodity

Sounds like they’ve locked in 2 deals with 2 separate groups, selling over 20% of the team

Aka they sold off about 23-30%, just enough to pay off all their debt

To me it’s very obvious what happened

Pohlads were getting close to a sale, saw the rays sell for 1.7 billion, tried to force the new buyer to pay another couple hundred million and they balked

Then the Pohlads had to scramble because they’re in so much debt but they’re also parasites

I’m tuning in to this team for the first time in a while… Cole Sands looked great in the 7th. Let’s see if they can hang on tonight.

Edit: no, they could not hang on

Funny that last night the much-maligned bullpen didn't allow any runs, but the offense couldn't score. Brutal.

Shelton. Well, that’s a choice I suppose.

The comments I’m seeing on social media are hilarious.

“Good thing he knows how to lose.”
“Poached a real winner.”
“Going from a no talent organization to….a no talent organization.”

Well at least he is used to being on a team that doesn't want to spend any money

What was management expecting from Rocco after the team was gutted? And we hired who???

No one will notice my protest, but I broke a 20+ year streak of attending at least one Twins game a year (excluding 2020 of course). Recent decisions seem intentionally harmful.

I hope that I'm wrong, but at least tickets will be inexpensive for the foreseeable future. If you want to go that is.

Just go see the Saint's instead. Pretty much the same level of talent/players (some times the same exact players) and games are a little more fun.

Alright finally back to wrap up the season. The Pohlads have completely sapped all hopes I had about having a competent team as long as they remain owners, and I am really fighting to try to keep caring about the team. I love the Twins and always will, and they are engrained in my upbringing and who I've become, so it says a lot about ownership's ability to make me feel just totally apathetic for the foreseeable future

I don't know how much I care at this point to try to unwind where all I place the blame, but it definitely starts with ownership. I feel bad for Rocco, he's just a fall guy at this point but if not him the front office would be the fall guy for ownership. As for the new hire Shelton, honestly I don't really care. I think manager is overblown in the fan's eyes more often than not, and let's be honest, the roster we're going to be putting out there for the next few years is going to be so bad that no manager in the world would make much of a difference. So as long as the guy isn't completely unlikeable or an obviously bad choice like the White Sox getting LaRussa a few years ago, I don't care to get very worked up about it

Was listening to Gleeman and the Geek for the first time in awhile today, and they were speculating that ownership's plans might be to just tread water for the next few years after having stripped it all down and hope that once the next CBA is in place, take another stab at trying to sell the team for their price. Which to be honest sounds like a pretty optimistic view to me. If there was an end date to this ownership in sight in the next few years, I could at least cling to that as the hope of better days ahead. But after how this year's "sale" saga played out, I just have no hope that that's the case and I think it's going to be a really ugly show for another 10 years. I hope I'm wrong

Such contrast in directions that the Twins and Blue Jays have gone since 2023. One team riding high with plenty to be excited about, the other bracing for further trades of their remaining worthwhile players. I fear it's going to be a really ugly offseason with Ryan and Pablo traded at minimum and no sorts of relevant big league pieces signed in free agency. And now without really any high quality pre-arb guys that you have confidence will be good or better pieces, it just feels like we're not even on square one yet

So, sigh. I'm not sure what else to say at this point, but this is a definite low point, probably since we were very close to being contracted in the early 2000s. I don't even know what I feel like I want to hope for anymore, other than the Pohlads selling someday. I'm resigned to the inevitable trades this offseason but it's hard for me to even get excited about potential prospect returns at this point. It just feels like such a long road back to being a semi relevant team, let alone a postseason team. And all because the Pohlads decided they need to make more money
