Watched Fantastic Four yesterday. It was pretty good. Not great. I had some issues with it. They did Galactus well. The acting was decent. The plot was fairly predictable. The end credit scene is a waste, no need to stay. 7/10.

Also watched Get Away. Horror Comedy. Kinda fun. Not super funny. Not a great plot. Holes like swiss cheese. 3/10.

Saw FF today. I liked it. It gives hope for the path going forward. 8/10.

happy Gilmore 2 wasn't great, but ben stiller and scottie were funny in it. seems like Adam Sandler was just going through the motions.

I'm excited to see 'Der Tiger', a WWII German tank movie coming out next month. Hopefully I'll be able to see it somewhere here in the US.

The Naked Gun was about as good I could have hoped for. Some of the jokes, gags, and one-liners have me laughing when I think about them almost two days after seeing the movie. Shame it looks like it might not do as well as it should. Comedy movies are toast.

Yeah, and it'll be subtitled with what the boss thinks they're saying.

Bad news for the sequel chances, I guess, but good news for us that it's funny. I'm going to see it (and Fantastic Four, finally) over the next couple of days.

The Naked Gun could have been a complete dud. I'm glad that it was at least mostly funny.

It's co-written and directed by one of the members of The Lonely Island which is a good sign in my book. I'm sure Neeson's enjoying the chance to do some comedy after all the drama and action movies over the years.

Wasn’t Leslie a dramatic actor until Airplane?

Podcast brought this up as well, said it was one of the reasons Neeson made sense for the role

Never seen any naked gun movies before but man it was stupid. The night vision scene was super funny. Pamela Anderson looked great with makeup.

Has anyone seen Weapons or Together? I was thinking about sneaking out and seeing one or both but not sure about either.

I watched I'm Just #@#@#@#@ing with you yesterday. Wow, that was not good. 2/10 for the movie but I was excited to see that Chino Moreno did the soundtrack so at least that's something.

So... Like Muppet Babies? Baby Rambo and Baby Troutman?

Maybe they'll do a "prequel" of Sheriff William "Will" Teasle before he became Sherriff of Hope, WA. Better yet, let's do a Yellowstone type streaming series tracing back the lineage of the Teasles back to the Old West and maybe Will's great-great grandpa has a run in with John Rambo's great-great grandpa Harold Rambo after returning from the Civil War. Sounds great! Green-Light it!

Ugh. Not everything needs a sequel, prequel, side-quel, etc.

Hollywood is so devoid of original ideas.

Saw Weapons Monday night. I went into it with mixed expectations, as I enjoyed Barbarian (same director) but also was hearing nothing but glowing reviews for this new one so I didn't want to get my hopes up. I really enjoyed it! Couple scenes that actually had people jump from their seats

I rolled the dice on Weapons as well. For the most part I enjoyed it.

I went in expecting a level or 2 below Infinity Wars/Endgame and it was what I got. Best Marvell release since Endgame though. 7.8/10.

Saw Fantastic Four last Tuesday and Naked Gun yesterday.

I give them both a B+, mainly for both of them being too short. Each need one more set piece for a full experience, in particular FF needed another scene of the four using their powers in a fully complementary manner, as in their best comic books. With Naked Gun, it could've been any zany thing, but one more crazy scene would've filled out the run-time a bit (although there were gags all through the credits as with the originals). That said, what was in there was funny, very much Lonely Island meets Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker.

We know for sure the FF will reappear. Hopefully, Frank Drebin Jr. will, too.

Fantastic Four 8.7
Naked Gun 8.8

Yeah, agreed. Rambo’s backstory is just that he’s a badass soldier who served in Vietnam. A prequel is just going to be another generic Vietnam War movie with CCR blaring throughout.

And yet I’m still gonna watch just like the last sequel Rambo Last Blood which was so terrible it had me laughing in the final scene.

My wife & I enjoy cheesy Stallone.

The most recent Rambo movie, from 2019 was called "Rambo: Last Blood". The new one is tentatively titled, "Rambo: Fetal Blood" and takes place entirely inside Rambo's mother's womb. Stallone wore a motion-capture suit to portray the fetus which is under attack from a shadowy terrorist organization.

Even so, I don't understand why Sly keeps squeezing Rambo (and Rocky) while the fantastic spec scripts I've submitted for "Rhinestone 2" and "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot...Again!" continue to lay fallow. It's made me reluctant to even submit "Over The Top 2: Over The Topper", which I just finished, even though I'm certain the crowds will turn out to see Stallone arm wrestle two robots at the same time!
