Anyone completing a complete RC set of a modern and major player, 2020 or after?
I define major player as one who was in the majority of Topps releases his rookie year with many inserts. I think its doable but will take many years, alot of $$$, patience, and lots of luck. Issue is with some of the /5 and /10 cards that don't have higher parellels maybe never coming for sale again. Rare Dual signature cards for example. An /5 card may never be posted for sale (left in unopened boxes or just kept after ripped). And even if it is posted for sale you must know about it and be willing to significantly over pay. Daily obsessive checking of ebay is required. Your also always competing against other hard core collectors of the same player which is not ideal. A bit selfish. If you strategically only buy the rarest cards first (sssp's, inserts /10 and /5), then maybe this is doable? Basic Rules: - Including all short prints and inserts. - Exclude 1/1s that are a unique card with no other parellels. (Bowman Platinum Pedigree 1/1 or printing plates for example). - For all Topps cards that have a RC stamp. - Don't need to own all image variations of the same card. Think Dynasty or Brooklyn Auto for some players. - Don't need to own all parellels of same card. I'm thinking of doing this for Yordan. But want to know if a collector has been successful first on another player. If anyone has done this would love to see it!

For the purpose of this thread, ignore 1/1s. Also you remind me of my frustration with gold foil vs rainbow foil.

I'd probably do something similar bit the reverse where I'd do a certain chrome color parallel like gold or blue and the Topps Flagship variation run down to the black. I still want that Triple with Yordan/Bichette/Luis too.

I've actually started bringing a 2024 gold foil card with me to shows when I'm digging through boxes. It's a great reference when you come across any 2024 flagship and I've actually found a few yellow foils that way. The 2024 yellow foils have an estimated print run (per Baseballcardpedia) of 200 for series 1, 135 for series 2, so they are fairly rare. Most don't even know (or care) they exist. I got the triple. Boy did i overpay for that card. But at the time I bought it, was the height of those 3 players and the market.

I considered it with Skubal, but got too busy to keep up. I hoarded a select few cards instead.

I am pretty sure no one has done this for a 2020 post major player who was in almost all the releases. Maybe last time it has been done is a Soto collector who somehow owns the hands on hips auto.....thinking of one collector on here. And he has no where close to the amount of rookie cards of many 2020 post players.
And again, for what im asking you dont need to own every parellel. Just 1 copy of every insert / auto / SSP (or SSSP) of every RC. Reasons I dont think its done: - takes years for some cards /5 or /10 with no existing higher parellels to be posted for sale. - requires a collection of hundreds of rookie cards of 1 player and is a very specific chase. - box loaders are sometimes rare and not often posted. - some cards even /25 are mostly left unopened or rare to be for sale. Mini Stained Glass comes to mind. - is very $$$. 50k plus for Yordan. - is not a popular chase. Most player collectors rather build rainbows in specific products or buy cards of a player from multiple years. Anyway, im trying to do this for Yordan.....but will take many more years. Just snap binned an/5 patch card yesterday that had not been for sale before with no other known higher parellels. But that takes obsessive checking and immediate action. Also it may only be doable when the player gets injured. As I have been able to get many rare Yordans over some of his injuries.
