This team has something wrong with it from a mentality standpoint. Its not as simple as just keep the guys that put up numbers over 162 and get rid of the rest. Its almost like they don't train, they don't practice, or we just have some incredibly dumb people on this team. Manny was dumb, but he was a roided up hitting savant.

Would I take Jazz first in fantasy, sure, but you can have a good team without him if you build it correctly.
This still doesn't provide a reason to dump Jazz. If the Yankees were in first place and in line to win 100+ games and WS favorites and the lineup was super deep like in 2009, then MAYBE I can see where you're coming from but none of that is the current situation.

Jazz is the 2nd/3rd best position player on the team, period. Any talk of dumping him with one year left on his rookie contract is ridiculous.

I don't disagree with that. But you can say that baserunning mistakes and defensive misplays are the symptom, not the diagnosis.

I suppose I'm taking a more cyncial approach. There's a lack of accountability from ownership, front office, coaches etc and I don't see that changing, so they need players that hold themselves and each other accountable and Jazz doesn't come across like one of those guys so I'd trade him.

Jazz should've been benched Sunday (Of course he hits 2 HR) for his awful AB and not covering 2nd on Volpe's error. But there's no accountability. Boone didn't even mention it in his press conference

Volpe also gets run out there every day, never get PH for...hopefully we will see more of his butt on the bench

Meanwhile Rosario is hitting when he's put in there....

And this is the circle they find themselves in. They'll say see why would we bench him when he can hit 2 HRs, but the point is you need to make these guys realize that you won't accept them making stupid mistakes because that's what will make you lose games vs good teams.

Noooo stop moving guys out of position. I like the idea of having flexibility and if Bo is willing and can I guess but if they really think Lombard is the guy and Volpe is gone just find a placeholder at SS. Anything would be better than Volpe. Sign Tucker, resign Bellinger and and find a middle of the rotation guy. Hope Cole comes back healthy.

Gleyber and Jazz are 2 completely different ballplayers. Jazz embodies power+speed+defense. Gleyber is more contact+discipline (and bad defense). Not sure how you came to the conclusion that they are similar.
In their attitude. And yes they are similar in that they both aren’t the best at fielding their position and in failure to make contact with runners in scoring position. The numbers might tell you different but I am the one watching them fail to hit with runners in scoring position and not making the tough defensive plays when needed.

With runners in scoring pos Jazz is hitting .208 with 32K to 14BB. He has less RBI with runners in scoring pos than Wells. 2 outs RISP he's hitting .190 and has less RBI than Dominguez. Back of the baseball card at the end of the year he will look great, but I don't think you necessarily win with a guy like him.

See you have the numbers to back it up I figured it out just by watching the games. I was never into analytics I am more of a watch and let my eyes figure it out.

Its emblematic of the entire team though. They don't change their approach, its HR or bust. Yes that will result in back of the baseball card looking good after 162, but all of the analytics fall apart over the span of 1 game. The mentality should be do whatever it takes to win the game.

What are we doing? You found a niche stat that's not great and ran with it? As a .230 hitter, that's not a crazy dip. If Jazz was a .280-.300 hitter and sported that, then OK maybe there's something there, but what do you expect it to be?

Ben Rice is hitting .200 with RISP... should they cut him too?

It’s a niche stat because it doesn’t meet your narrative. Okay.

I would keep Rice because his savant page is still all red. Though maybe they should trade him since the Yankees seem incapable of getting the most out of guys. Other teams would definitely want Rice.

I also had to look this up to believe it. Last 3 years, min 1500pa Volpe is dead last with .222 average. Dead last in obp with .284. 6th worst slugging. 2nd worst wRC+. Why do they keep gaslighting us about him. Is he secretly Cashman's love child? He's proven he is not a major league hitter. Why can't they just send him down?

They don’t want to admit they’re wrong just like keeping Aaron Hicks forever and Josh Donaldson. Being that Volpe is from the Yankees farm system it will take them even longer to cut bait.

Way to waste a leadoff double.

I will be honest I would’ve saved Schlittler some pitches and went to the bullpen once they made it 7-0.

Nice getting out of the 6th with no runs for Cam. Now let him rest nice turn by Jazz and Caballero on that double play. Volpe would’ve held it or thrown it away.

What’s up with Yankee runners being doubled up on line drives.

Not blaming McMahon. I would say most would’ve been doubled off on that one.

That's what happens when he gets a chance to play

Yeah those stats about Volpe just popped up on Facebook yesterday for me. But according to Boone, he's till our SS.

Boone views Volpe as Yankees' primary SS, despite benching

Yes, because the bullpen probably would have blown it worse at 7-0 than 10 runs to make it 10-5. Two idiots give up 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th.
