Nats closer in to pitch the bottom of the 6th to preserve an 11-1 deficit.

Sorry no reason for Fried to still be pitching.

Blackburn warming up even he shouldn’t be able to blow a 10 run lead.

Well that should end Fried’s day. 1 run 7 inning performance is good enough.

1-37 with 2 more strikeouts. Boone make a deal with him if he gets to 1-40 he loses his starting position.

11-2 final have to feel a little better about themselves even though it was only the Nationals.

I'll pass on this one. Lack of effort will make me hate a player. That's not Volpe's problem. Volpe is just not a major league ballplayer. He got the most out of his career however. Gold glove, World Series grand slam. 162 games will eat you alive. Could a different system have helped Volpe? Possibly. He should be gone after this year. Maybe he has short term success with another team but he will eventually fade away.

It’s not so much as hate for him as a person or player. It is hate for the leeway Boone has given him, how many other players would’ve been given this long of a leash with this much failure. It is not only 1-37 it is only 1 time on base no walks or anything. The fielding was the only thing saving him but even that has become shaky. It’s not having to come in behind Jeter either most knowledgeable Yankees fans knew that he wasn’t going to be that good we were just hoping for someone better than IKF. He has had streaks where we think he is getting ready to be the everyday player we need but the funks he goes into have made me at least say he is what he is and that they can find someone better.

I wouldn’t write off Volpe as a non major leaguer. He has speed and power. Hes a good glove and I’m guessing he’s let his performance at the plate carry onto the field.
To me he screams the result of not making the adjustments to his scouting report. Whether that’s an organization issue or it’s Volpe or a combination we’ll see.

There probably is an organization that could make better use of him, I don’t know whether it’s because Yankee prospects are overhyped or whether it’s a coaching issue but it’s not just the Yankees with prospects who don’t reach their potential. The only thing is the Yankees have given Volpe 3 years and instead of progressing he is regressing.

Interesting that he won a gold glove his rookie season with 17 errors and he has now tied that this year already. 17, 16, 17 errors so far in his career.

IKF made 15 errors with the Yankees his 1st season and never made more than 3 after that. Didi Gregarious worst season with the Yankees was 9 errors.

Dude is just not cut out to play SS in the Bronx!

If only Boston and Toronto weren't playing easy, loser teams too to gain some ground.

Yankees hit 4 home runs in a 9-run inning to rout Nationals 11-2

Yet both of those teams had to come from behind with late inning rallies to win. Minnesota has no bullpen and blew an 8-6 lead by giving up 3 runs in the 8th Baltimore did them one better staying with Akin for the 9th after he pitched a miraculous 8th getting out of a 1st and 3rd no outs jam scoreless. Going for the 6 out save was never going to happen A Duran single and Rafaela homer to start the 9th put Boston up 3-2 and Chapman struck out the side in the 9th to end it. Maybe the Brewers will beat Toronto a couple of times this weekend but I don’t think the Pirates will win any against the Red Sox.

He actually wrote too to say the Yankees were playing the same type of competition right now.
