I sent him an Eck rookie card it was only $10/card for his autograph by mail with a SASE. (sent cash). He signed it and returned it in just over a week. It was so fast!

I also got his auto for two other cards, one was a custom for my 1955 All-American style auto "set":

Eck is the BEST at signing TTM. Reliable, fast, and a beautiful signature! Rollie Fingers is great too.

Nice cards! There are a few Bill Dickey cards I’ve had my eyes on. The Mays is actually on my Want-List too..
Congrats!
Here is my recent purchase

That rookie is cool. I just picked one up a couple of days ago. I've never done TTM, but I was thinking about starting. I might send it to Eck to let him auto it.

Can't think of 20 cards more iconic than that one!

I am getting one HOF card for each player and one key card from each vintage set. This will mark of two checkboxes for me.

Thanks to a board member on Net54 (huge shout out to Peter F) I was tipped off to a local Michigan Auction at the end of July which featured several lots originating from the estate of Tommy Bridges, the main focus of my personal collection. The live auction was actually closing while I was on a flight back from the West coast, but I placed some strong early bids and my wife logged in and placed some live bids for me - so while I didn't clean sweep all the lots as I wanted, I did win many and was able to add hundreds of new items to my Tommy Bridges collection. I'm extremely happy to add hundreds of his personal photos, scrapbooks, effects, correspondence, and much more. Everything from his service related documents to his daughter's report cards.

Happy Collecting All!

Pickups have been less and less this year as I focused my collection on quality > quantity, but I did pick up this beauty to cross a major want off the wish list!

Wow, what a perfect eye-appeal SGC 1!

These are the best kind card cards to me. Lower grade for the price/authenticity, but still great centering and gorgeous eye appeal.

Traded a bunch of cards for this at a card show today. I am searching to replace my PSA 10 1984 Fleer Update Kirby Puckett as I type this. I will let people battle over perfect centering. The registration and color on this card is beautiful!

Whew, some really nice stuff being shared. Here's a few of my recent grabs.

I probably overpaid for the Speaker relative to the assigned grade, but man it's got great centering and color and reggie. The wrinkling is quite inconspicuous. The Junior is really nice looking. The grade is due to the tiniest bit of tape residue on the back. Finally, the Waitkus is a neat card with some historical significance. As many of you probably know, he was the inspiration for the Barry Levinson / Robert Redford classic The Natural. This card cost next to nothing and is in great condition.

Comps are dead with the way PSA and even SGC are grading these days. Looking at auctions, I don't see much of a price between 2 through 4's right now. You pay for the card you want.

The deep blue and the crisp red makes for a stunning card on that Speaker! I may have over paid or gave too much trade value for the cards I got. It doesn't matter. They are part of my permanent collection and will be available when my kids inherit them after I am gone.

Thanks! When it comes to the Speaker card, I see a big price difference between what I got and what 3s and 4s are selling for. Although I totally agree with you that you pay for the card you want and I am very happy with the eye appeal I got for what I paid.

I wonder if we're seeing better deals on SGC cards for the money because people are panicking that SGC is gonna die, which might be true. But I don't really care because I just like the example and don't really care what slab it is. The low grade helped me get a card that stacks up favorably to a lot of 3s and 4s out there, but that is just my opinion. Note, I have been building a graded T206 Red Sox set. Up until now all my cards (I had 7 of them before this purchase) were PSA new labels and I figured I'd just flip the Speaker into a PSA slab, but now that I have it I don't see what the point is in sending it to PSA just to satisfy my OCD. It just doesn't seem worth the risk of dealing with shipping and having some jabroni cut the card out of the holder and put it in a new holder, or claim it is not slabbable if I crack it before sending, or give it a 1. Doesn't seem worth it to pay for all that nonsense.

I just can't justify the cost of new wax anymore. Instead, I got all seven of these cards for less than 4 Chrome blasters.

Ya, that's a beauty, VanLingo. Those smaller cards all seem to look better for the grade. Not as much as yours, though. I'm thinking Late 40's and Early 50's Bowmans. The color on yours really stands out.

Iconic card, DiscoDan! You did not skimp on quality!

Thanks corndog. I love how it’s possible to get historically significant vintage cards or cards with personal significance that are in low demand. The story Waitkus tells on that back of his 55B card reads like a real trip back in time. It’s great how Waitkus recovered and found true love although one can’t help but wonder what he could have been if he didn’t get shot. He only lived to the age of 53 so this card might have reflected the high point of his life.

There is a good book by Eddie Eddie Waitkus, "Baseball's Natural". He suffered
depression through out his life. He was never really the same after this traumatic event.

Part of my most recent SGC sub. I'm particularly excited about the 1937 Melorol Poe.
