Did you reverse the image before scanning? Its backwards, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I’m glad they’re going to continue the anniversary crap they have going on in baseball. So freaking lazy.

You'd think the NBAPA would have the foresight to make sure that the rookie shield is their design/property so it can be consistent regardless of who has the license.

I personally think that is a good looking card and the RC logo works well with 1980 retro design. But I appreciate that it may not work with other designs.

As has been the case over my thirty years of collecting; there will be plenty of card designs I enjoy and plenty I do not.

I don't understand why they didn't wait to print it.

Can Panini still print cards this month and then release them over time?

I'm guessing that it's "license to make", but I'm waiting for confirmation from someone more knowledgeable.

Well put.

My only question is why they're focus on the "45th Anniversary" when that puts them at the end of the window for which they released basketball cards (1969-1981)?

Why not start with the 1970-71 design (55th anniversary) and then progress through the 70's designs?

First game of the year is Oct 21st and ideally you want product coming out prior to the season.
The problem is that right now (and really for the past couple of years) Topps/Fanatics can't get anything out the door anywhere close to on time.

Last year, 24 HHN didn't release until late March, only a few weeks before 26 Heritage.

Topps still has 5+ major baseball products that aren't even on the release calendar yet despite it being September.

Maybe Topps can get a Flagship basketball product out in October....but you're probably waiting until 2026 for anything else.

Doesn't Topps/Fanatics own a couple of these printing presses? They've literally had years to plan this.

If I'm Topps, they should make that first wknd in October a huge event. Do a massive Rip Night Oct 3rd or 4th and sync it with the return of 2025-26 Topps Flagship NBA. Give every LCS a couple of free hobby boxes so all participants in Rip Night can get one free pack. Bring out as many athletes/celebs as you can. Sync it with some kind of card giveaway at MLB stadiums.

Get people aware, get people excited.

You're assuming a level of managerial competence that simply doesn't exist at Fanatics or Topps.

The one thing that Fanatics is really good at is spending their investors money buying up the licenses to everything in sight. That's how they got into the sports apparel business, and that's how they got into the sports card industry.

But actually producing and distributing quality products......they suck at that.

They've stopped doing any marketing or product previews, and are operating under the (correct) assumption that breakers will buy anything they release no matter what the price point.

Will 2024/25 Topps Inception Basketball be the last unlicensed set they release or are they going to release more garbage this month?
