I think that I can make the argument that none of you judge a QB based on stats. We know who is good and bad and we add the stats for discussion. But we all know stats don’t tell the whole or maybe any story. Mahomes himself is the best example. I know he’s a good QB by watching the games and seeing him play and winning and being what it takes to win. His stats early on were “good” his stats now days are “bad” but when you watch the games you are seeing his greatness win these games. His stats don’t matter.

Stats are also super nuanced. “Empty calorie” stats in blowouts in worthless games (Dak) are counted the same as Mahomes/Brady winning a clutch game in a meaningful game. Those yards ain’t equal even though they are counted as equal.

And this is the point of QBR... it acknowledges that all outcomes aren't equal due to the circumstances surrounding them. You just made an awesome case for it being a useful metric that describes certain statistics.

Also, Mahomes has historically been one of the highest rated QBs according to QBR, so it seems to be doing a good job measuring his performance.

My definition of what yards are and arent empty calories is different than anyone else's, its all subjective. QBR isnt smart enough or in depth enough to know what yards are worthy. Not all "legit" stats and "empty calories" stats are equal either. Every play of every game of every season that QB has played should be weighed different and it takes watching the games to do it.

Also for a moment pretend QBR never was made up by ESPN and just doesn't exist. Now look at the QBs. What changes? Nothing.

Just having rings doesn't make you the GOAT, esp. in a team sport like football.

Brady's game and role on each team changed from Super Bowl to Super Bowl.

It's like Kobe in basketball. Sure, he has 5 rings. But it's lazy and ignorant to compare his 5 to MJ's 6 and think they're close just because of that one stat.

Not all rings (and even MVPs) are created equally.

It’s a valid point, but you still have to admire the fact that a single QB led his different role teams to the SB 9 times winning 7. I see your point completely but it’s still an amazing accomplishment. He even beat Mahomes head to head.

Brady actually led his different role teams to TEN Super Bowls, but who is counting?

Should we call Mahomes TD on SB when Sirriani soaked with Gatorade a Philly special too?

INT was a killer. Not blaming Kelce there.

Philly TD was a TD on third down.

IDK. Even Brady said the pass was perfectly placed.
They had momentum and that play cost them the game IMO
