Default Upper Deck Admits Defect, but won't Replace it.

Ok folks, say what you want, whether you support my stance on this issue or not. I'm not expecting every card to be gem mint, but I do expect quality for what I pay for. To pull one of the biggest rookie autos in the product and it's damaged is frustrating and that small nick affects the value greatly.

To Bosoxfan and jlzinck, thanks for the constructive criticism. Your comments are always welcome.

Yeah, no company is replacing that.

It sucks it came out of the pack that way, but that doesn't warrant a replacement.

I don't agree. I have sent numerous cards back to Panini and even a couple other cards with similar issues to UD with no issues.

That's why I didn't hesitate to send this card back too.

You would probably be in the minority. That is a minor defect.

I'm not trying to pile on and agree it sucks the card came out of the pack like that, but that's still a NM+ card.

People like this is the reason. Hopefully they shadow banned his name and address as we should do with them here.

I don’t think this card warrants replacement at all.

This is another thing that grading has impacted.
Not every card is going to be Gem Mint or Mint.

Their comments are pretty valid. There are people out there who have minor/non-issues, such as the one you described in your original post, who inundate card manufacturers with complaints, which in turn makes it tougher for those with valid complaints to be heard.

I don't think the pot is getting stirred. I just think you are not hearing what you want to hear.

Honestly, I didn't have any specific expectation regarding whether some would agree or disagree. If anything, what I did expect, happened. Certain screwballs on here choose to attack the poster, rather than post comments that actually matter. I used to do a lot of buying and trading on these forums, but too many jackasses have ruined the experience.

See it from the manufacturers POV:

Could the tiny nick have been caused by them? possibly

Could the nick have been caused at any point after purchase? likely

Is the "damage" a result of foil stamping, miscut, crimping during packaging or printing? no

The answer that they gave you is correct, IMO.

If you read my comments I am actually generally pretty heartfelt and take time to express what I feel genuinely.

You know nothing about me, but have stated that my life is putrid because of a comment I made regarding about you being the issue?

So I stand by what I said, you are still the issue for what I stated. The same way people who buy overpriced products are an issue with the prices not coming down, you are the issue with people who have actual gripes with companies getting a deaf ear, because they are wasting time with non issues like yours. I have experienced this many times on my end with getting the busy signal at Panini and other companies.

You're honestly only showing your true colors and proving my point further by talking about my "putrid life", as if that makes you seem any bit like a reasonable person who could articulate why what I said didn't have validity.

I'd say good luck getting your cards replaced, but I honestly want to make a plea to you to stop doing it, or stop buying cards. What you're doing isn't right, and isn't fair. If you want 9+ condition cards out of packs, buy them graded. Your card would likely grade within the bounds of Near Mint.

You already had your answer stated to you many times by many posters. We all agree that the damage doesn't warrant sending it back. But you're mostly the "problem" because of this:

You can ask it any way you want going forward, in an attempt to paint the picture however you'd like. But you've gotten your answer. You aren't being fair at all and aren't listening to any of the feedback. At this point it honestly seems like a deep seated issue. Mr PSA 10 what are your thoughts? I say theres a very very strong chance that this card would come back a BGS 9 with the photo being likely the only "damage" on the card.

I'd put just about every dime I've got it on it coming back 8+. Been around a long time. That isn't sub 7.5 edges.

As I stated before, I did e-mail customer service first. They approved the return and gave me a claim number. The rejection came from the fulfillment department. It was later explained that Fulfillment has final say on returns.

Yes, I was surprised in the feedback here. I honestly thought I was in the right and would get some support, but that didn't happen. OK, I was wrong. If a next time arrives, I'll better assess if its worth trying.
