Default Best 2024 set to rip

Hey y’all, what are your favorite sets from 2024 to rip? I guess to simplify further I would say what was the most enjoyable or had the best value to you?

The olds here aren't going to realize you're asking about opening wax. Calling it sets is going to make them think you're wanting to crack open sealed Factory Sets for fun.

Sadly there isn’t much value in opening boxes of anything these days. All prices are really high. You’re better off buying singles but we all get it. Sometimes you just want to rip open some boxes.

Yeah I buy a lot of singles but it’s just tough since I got into the hobby as a kid by opening packs. I know baseball has some sets that are seen as better to rip in terms of value but wasn’t sure about football. Sadly I think quite a few people are looking for suggestions on this, singles are hands down the best value but in terms of fun/nostalgia it can be fun opening some lower end sets so at least it’s not so painful on the wallet when you get smoked.

I’m wondering if Donruss might be an option as it’s paper based and at least in baseball the chrome products tend to demolish the paper counterpart (ie Topps chrome vs series 1) in terms of price per card

A 2024 Donruss Mega containing 60 cards is fetching around $90 = $1.50/card. The cards themselves are chippy on the reverse side so gems are tough. Pretty much Kaboom, Downtown, or bust.

Getting back to the original question -
Rookies and Stars retail formats (either hobby blasters or maybe gravity feeds) are fun and decent value of low end cards with chances at numbered things of value. Stay away from the 24ct retail boxes.

Totally Certified Mega weren't bad.

From a value perspective, and done in bulk, Donruss Cellos (Fat Packs) were the clear winner last year if you are grading the star RC's (and good at grading). For a long time, boxes were selling for the same price as megas, or cheaper, and the pull rate of downtowns is the same between mega boxes and cello boxes, but cello boxes come with 4X as many cards. It is not uncommon to get a 75% gem rate on Donruss base RC's if you are good at screening your cards. They aren't worth a ton as 10's, but enough to make it worthwhile. Downtowns are almost 1:case. It might end up being something like 1:25 boxes. I opened 8 cases I think. The prices on these boxes have come up a bit from the bottom, but still affordable.

If you have to explain why it's a 1/1, then it's NOT a 1/1.

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.
