Default 2025 Cleveland Guardians Post Season Thread

Didn't start a season thread. It has been a fun and wild ride. Can't believe that we have the opportunity to play in the post season. Team obviously has flaws. But man this is fun

Let's go get the division tomorrow

Thanks. Didn't see this coming at all. Im not even sure that upper management believed in the team by the deals they made, etc.

Then the whole Ortiz and Clase drama figured that'd be the nail in the coffin, but alas here we are

I thought with the suspensions they wouldn’t be able to win as often as they did and to have Detroit stumble was not expected.

Detroit falling was totally unexpected. To me though the Guards winning like they have is just crazy to me

Insane.

They are going to get curb stomped in the playoffs...but...then again, baseball is weird.

This franchise deserves a Championship.

Guardians bested (worsted?) the 1906 White Sox (The Hitless Wonders) for lowest batting average for a playoff team in MLB history.

In a weird way, the walk-off win against Texas is nice. This way they didn't win the division just because the Tigers lost and the win hopefully makes them more confident.

Just wondering if Cleveland’s team ERA just for September might be anywhere near record setting territory? It was pretty good but I don’t know how good.

Right there with you. Like the confidence heading into Tuesday. Crazy to think the Guards are central division champs

Once you're in then at least you have a chance.

They were good but not quite histroic good. In fact looks like they weren't top 25 best month in history.

I just would really like the seasoned end well.

Being a Cleveland fan since 2016 has been a real experience.

Going from the underdogs in the World Series to choking it away in yet another game 7 was heartbreaking. I still have not had the heart to watch the Davis home run.

2017 felt like it was our year, especially after the winning streak---one of the longest in the game's history. I believe 538 had us the favorite going into the playoffs. And we choked it away yet again.

Then there was the playoffs with the Astros in 2019. Nobody ever thought we had a chance, but after the series was over hearing Cleveland players openly imply that something was fishy was...something. So was hearing how Cleveland alerted Boston to watch out for shenanigans from the Astros. WEIRD.

2021 was depressing...but it was always fun to see if they would get no hit. They were no-hit a record four times. Depressing.

2022 was fun. The playoffs were thrilling, with Oscar Gonzalez hitting two game running home runs. One of which was off. Corey Kluber. I'm not proud to say it was satisfying watching him choke away a series for a team who wasn't Cleveland.

2023 was...confusing. We sucked, sure. But then that weird ass trade deadline. We clearly were throwing in the flag by trading Amed Rosario to the Dodgers for Noah Syndergaard, Aaron Civale to the Rays for Kyle Manzardo, then Josh Bell to the Marlins for Jean Segura and Khalil Watson.

But then the team...got pissed...so much the teams President and GM had to fly to Houston and talk to the team. And at the waiver deadline claimed Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Moore from the Angels...I guess to maybe try for a late season push. It was weird.

And 2024 was almost worth it just for that one playoff win against the Yankees. That game was bonkers. It felt, at moments, like that series could have went our way.

It would be nice to finally be able to enjoy a full season. At this point every season feels like watching Das Boot, where I kind of just want to turn the movie off when they get back to port. Because the ending is always depressing .

It would be nice, but for some reason in Cleveland that is not how it goes, but have to enjoy it because trust me it could be the late 80's and early 90's or even worse the stories I hear from my dad and uncle about the 60's and 70's in the blink of an eye. At least most years Cleveland has had a competent team on the field for quite some time now, obviously with some rough years in there, but not long stretches of terrible.

I hate when scheduling puts the same teams as the 1pm start. It's garbage for the fans when this early in the playoffs may be their chance to get to a game.

It's a very "Guardians" thing to do, and that's a compliment. It's almost destiny that DeLauter gets an 8th inning pinch hit RBI in his MLB debut to seal a playoff victory lol. I love this team even if we hate the owner for being cheap. They just never give up and so much of what they do is outside the box stuff that most teams wouldn't even try.

Not the teams fault that the Dolans are cheap. Always a fun team and scrappy you're right wouldn't surprise me at all.if Delauter did something like that

It's absolutely ridiculous that MLB has all three games at 1pm. I guess no one cares that people work, kids have school, people have to attend jury duty, etc.

Love all the hate for the Guards. It's actually entertaining and just feeds the Cleveland vs the World mentality.

As they've said in other threads MLB don't care about us smaller market peasants

Can't make mistakes and expect to beat Skubal very often and JRod with a mistake already.
