I can only assume the sellers backed out now that prices have gone up, but I thought the benefit of StockX is that they couldn't back out? Are there stiffer penalties for sellers or this is just another eBay where anyone can back out of a sale and continue to sell?
Only thing I know about StockX is my son bought shoes off of there once.
Oh, and some sucker sold the box of Topps Update that had the Skenes debut patch on StockX for $320. LOL

There's a better chance of me digging through 6 feet of dirt and restarting my show The Joy of Painting on Jimmy Kimmel than that Skenes Debut Patch story from Fanatics being true.

That was quick. We were just talking about this product at the show and how $900 was still a good deal, and then a ton of boxes go off the market. Need the little guys to start moving too. I'm not opening those but will sell when they get high enough.

Yea $900 a box for an average return of $50 - $100 is such a great deal... To the moon 10x! Meanwhile in reality it’s your reseller buddies pumping secondary market on another Topps overproduced bloodbath of a product.

Ah, I see now. I responded to your other post and now realize what kind of poster you are. You seem to not have an understanding of what you are talking about (ignorant). You have obviously not opened this product or seen anyone open it. Go watch a random youtube video and then go to ebay and comp every card that was pulled. You will see just how ignorant you truly are.

You should go back and actually read this thread. I don't know what product you are talking about, but it isn't this one.

He may be Herman's kid. Just showing up in threads to troll with no other purpose. I glanced at his posts after a couple he made this morning and he fits the mold of no point to his posts other than to complain about something. And it seems like his complaints are not even accurate complaints (as shown here).

Back on topic, these boxes seem to be few and far between now. I don't see any listed for reasonable prices on any site.

This product was the most fun I've had since 2023 Topps WBC. Unfortunately as wax prices rose, all singles have dropped. Sets have dropped from $475 to $225. Happy Mistakes SPs have dropped from $200 to $120. Parallels and autos across the board are probably down 50%.

Like everything in ripping, the early adapters made money, and the people that held the unsealed wax made money. The worst combination, as usual, is late to buy wax and late to open wax.

Was a a fun time when boxes were $650 and EV was like 125% though.

This is exactly why this hobby is completely manipulated and a joke.

That isn't manipulation. In what world would value in the boxes always remain above the price of the wax? How would that even be possible? If value is greater than cost the product will all be purchased. Singles prices always fall as more supply hits, and wax prices always rise as supply dwindles if the demand remains. There are a lot of things in this hobby that are manipulated, but this certainly is not it. It was just a good product. If you ever see another product where value is greater than cost, buy all you can afford. 100% of the time the cost will rise. 100% of the time without fail.

I am not necessarily talking about this product in particular, it is happening with a lot of mainstream releases and not niche stuff like this. Paying 500-1000 or more a box for product less than 5 years old is just stupid. Nothing will change my mind. I've been in this hobby long enough to see the dysfunction. I actually am glad, b/c it forces me to put my money into other things. People will give me their economist views, but it is price gouging by the manufacturers and marker manipulation by the secondary parties that keep this going. People better hope that the pumpers and breakers continue to exist, b/c it will be ugly when they don't.

I just assumed you were talking about this product since the thread is about this product. Your comment about manipulation would hold more weight if it was posted in a thread with a product that was actually being manipulated. Because, yes, it does happen.

Something is going on with these right now. DA bumped their buy prices up significantly today on both Collectors/Happy and Steel City today put their Collectors buy price back into the first row of their buy page.

Places seem to be buying aggressively on them, like they know something is about to happen (a big hoard or pump).
