Luka missing raises an eyebrow. He's one of the league's biggest stars. This makes me concerned for Topps NFL. Mahomes has an exclusive with Panini, but nobody can tell me he'd be excluded from Topps big comeback.
Hope Luka is in the Update or Series 2 (if there is one). |

Should be a fun product, always nice seeing some new stuff.
Only one card for me to chase. Assuming there will be a green parallel? Quote:

Math time with Uncle Bob.
Using the "THE DAILY DRIBBLE" insert which is Hobby only, the Foilfractor 1/1 odds, and the assumption that the Hobby box makeup is identical to MLB Topps Hobby of 20 packs per box: THE DOUBLE DRIBBLE checklist: 40 THE DOUBLE DRIBBLE Foilfractor odds: 1:133,934 Packs per Hobby Box: 20 Hobby Boxes made: 267,868 For funsies, here is the same insert math for Jumbo boxes: THE DOUBLE DRIBBLE checklist: 40 THE DOUBLE DRIBBLE Foilfractor odds: 1:33706 Packs per Jumbo Box: 10 Jumbo Boxes made: 134,824 These are the only SKU's THE DAILY DRIBBLE INSERT is in so do what you will with these box numbers. Your friend, Bob |

sooo.... 20,000ish cases of each? edit: I dont think the math works out, there are 40 total DD 1/1s but we dont know many are in hobby and how many are in jumbo. Is there anything that is either exclusive to jumbo or hobby? Last edited by anusinha; 10-01-2025 at 09:34 PM. |

If you wanna make it easy and assume this insert is split evenly odds wise between the two, I'd chop each box number in half-ish. Which still equals: a fvcking sh1tton of this junk is produced. Pardon my french. |

Yeah, 200K boxes, regardless of the format, is a lot. Probably more than Donruss and Hoops combined, including retail.

so there are probably something like 20k total cases of hobby and jumbo, which is close to Topps s1 baseball. I assume there is a metric ton of retail as well.

I personally do no think that Topps can produce too much of this particular release.
I simply want to be able to walk into my LCS and pick up a box at a price that does not make my roll my eyes; then take it home and enjoy the experience of opening a box and having fun with the cards as I do. I will then put together a base set in a binder and pick one of the rarer insert sets I like the look of, to chase over the coming weeks and months to join it. The key for Fanatics making this license work, is having different products at different price points & product runs. I will happily pour over and scrutinise the print runs of higher end products in the coming weeks and months. For me personally, Topps Flagship is all about a little old fashioned collecting. I agree with this point. Topps SHOULD print flagship basketball to the moon, or regular hobby box prices will end up at some ridiculous price like north of $200. |

Flagship should absolutely be printed very heavily and available everywhere. If they have this brand new license and a fan cannot walk into their local hobby shop or retail store and buy whatever format they are looking for, they have failed. The premium products should be limited, but not this release. Not at all. If they printed too little, $200 would even be cheap. Boxes would 4x at release because of how expensive Panini products were. It will still cost around $400 for the newest Prizm Basketball Hobby Box, even with the crappy rookie class. So this has to be printed very heavy to keep box prices down under $200.

I agree with the last few posts. For this release I don’t really care about print run. I want to be able to buy some boxes of both formats and not get price gouged. Certain inserts, parallels, “hits” will have value regardless of the print run. If price is reasonable I might even consider a case of something if I can get my hands on one and I haven’t opened a case of anything in years.

I also agree that it should be produced heavily.
However, that only is correct with the proper price point. |

I'm glad I held off on 2025 Update so I can buy a box of this.

For me, the potential price point is a secondary concern to the quality of the chrome release. If they used the same printer they used for, say, Topps Chrome NPB or Pro Debut Chrome, I'm all over it and will rip a couple cases. But if we get faded, washed out looking chrome a la 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball/Football/Basketball or 2025 Bowman/Bowman Chrome, it's just an easy pass for me and I'll wait for Sapphire. Maybe pick up some singles.

I think Topps is going to find out that, unlike baseball, the basketball card market doesn't have a large collector base -- those who build sets, open product for fun, and follow the sport.
Therefore, mass-produced cheaper products like flagship just wont have the appeal and demand to justify their large print runs. The basketball card market is much more shallow than the baseball card market. It's why it's had such dramatic price swings since 2020. |
