Matt Harvey's meteoric rise and fall felt like a literal 15 minutes of fame.

Roger Maris' 61-HR season has to be in there somewhere. Never had more than 40 HR in any other season, although his previous (1960) was just about as good statistically.

I don't think a 2-time MVP fits the model of a one-hit wonder.

I thought this might be the thread winner. I looked up his stats and he actually had a few other decent seasons.

Definitely his career year.

Good one for a reliever.

Frankie Montas got paid for his good season like four more times after the fact.

Keston Hiura's rookie year aberration still boggles.

Ian Kennedy in 2011 as a starter. Found later success as a reliever, but that year was just awesome.

Bill Mueller
Stephen Drew
Dominic Brown had that one season where we thought it was happening

He had a 3-year stretch where he was one of the best hitters in MLB -- third-highest OPS among qualified hitters between 2004 and 2006. Only Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols were higher.

I always think of Ubaldo Jimenez in spots like this. Probably because he threw a no hitter vs the Braves. Incredible first half and collapsed at the end. Didn't win the Cy Young even. Stands out more too because he was a Colorado pitcher.

Great shouts. Versailles won the AL MVP that year. I never even heard of the guy.

Shane Spencer is a name I always think of when this comes up, but his 'one hit' was just 27 games, so not sure it qualifies.
