Don't forget boys I need ALL of these cards. ALL. You see one, point it out. You have one, contact me immediately. You know of a friend of a friend that has one that isn't for sale, steal it for me. If I have 5 Bucky Dents, I need 6. If I have 6, I need 7. You get the idea.

Here's a better representation of what they look like, 2008, 2009 Classic Signatures from Legendary Cuts Upper Deck release. All players, both releases.

If you're sick of me posting football sets I have some bad news for you, completed another today and last weekend I started 5 new football sets. I'd post more baseball sets if you stingy buttnuggets would let some go.

Dude, you legitimately have one of, or rather the most, impressive, tasteful, envy inducing PC I have ever seen in my life. Absolutely masterfully done.

What more can be said, the man has great taste in cards and sets.

Dude, didn’t anyone tell these players they can just do two tiny squiggly lines and call it a “signature”? No need for them to sign their full name.

Appreciate it! It's not too hard to dominate when you don't have much going on. I don't know how some of you guys with family and kids and a lot going on do it. My life is pretty much just work, cards and dogs at the humane society. Working with dogs the last three years replaced the time I use to spend on firearms/shooting. Speaking of which I'll be MIA for the next 6 hours as I go play with high risk dogs.

Kids these days have it all figured out. Squiggle = Profit

Yeah for sure man, much respect to your dedication. I have a soft spot for dogs too, but only pet the friendlies. Some scare the hell out of me lol. That's cool you help take care of them though, I hate watching those animal commercials with the sad and abused pets, so it's good to know people show them kindness after what they endure.

You deserve your cards lol. What's your favorite one?

Favorite set?

Player?

Most rare/valuable?

I am genuinely curious.

Great stuff man! Even the football items are amazing. I don't collect football at all, but appreciate these nonetheless.

As some should, I had a pitbull try to maul me twice in one day. We had to say goodbye to her but it's better they try to maul me than get adopted and end up mauling some neighborhood kid. I've got all the triggers for dogs, I'm male, big and scary looking, huge beard. I'm like the doggie bogeyman.

In the mid 80's I saved up $10.00 to buy my first high end card. $10.00 plus tax! 1984 Donruss Darryl Strawberry.

For autos I'm drawn to the 2008 SP Classic Signatures. The cards themselves are ugly but I like the somewhat unique checklist. For non autos sets that's tough because so many sets from the 80's bring back great memories. Like 1988 Score, horrendous set but I have a soft spot for it. Non wax wrappers during that time was new and cool.

Not really a card nor valuable but on the rare side I've got a Ron Gant glove authenticated by Ron Gant himself. Also a '83/'84 Darryl Strawberry bat.

Dude, glad you're alright. Those pits keep me alert, definitely not to be trifled with by the ignorant!

Much love for the nostalgic answers, as a 99% pure collector I respect that. I feel like everyone who has collected has that one special card, or card with special meaning that may be worthless to anyone else, but is invaluable to them. Mine is a 1997 Metal Universe Platinum Portraits of A-Rod. Different story behind it, but the feeling is relevant.

Never knew you liked Gant so much as well. I always liked him, remember his power and speed, and the Braves and Reds days fondly. Bought a Strawberry Topps rookie during the pandemic in a PSA 9 for like $20-25.

Cool you have such limited and hard to obtain items like gloves and bats man, definitely something an average collector likely wouldn't have.

Someone should do a podcast just talking about old cards, sets, etc... Nostalgic and meaningful thoughts and memories, no to very little prospecting or investing like most talk about. That would be fun to hear each persons stories and memories in the hobby.

I still get giddy when I see '88 Gregg Jefferies and '89 Steve Avery cards.

Man those metal universe cards were ugly. I just threw a ton of those out along with about 20,000 other random cards/commons in 700ct boxes. I though I had discarded most of my old boxes (donated many to charity) but found a room on the third floor I forgot I had stored cards in.

I think part of my dismay for metal universe is '97/'98 is about when I was done with the hobby and most of the stuff from those years just didn't hit like the earlier stuff did when I was more into it.

I think everyone that watched baseball back then loved a Brave or Cubbie because those were the only two teams always on TV.

Oh man, those are blasphemous fighting words lol. I do really like them, especially the finish on them that makes the cards pop, as well as all of the different scenes/colors/designs and what not. They were different, but not too much or over the top I thought. I still love them, but I imagine you being on the outs in the hobby then and being a little bit older maybe is why I found them more appealing. That and I have not only 1, but 2 incredible stories about the brand so I am definitely biased. That Danny Wuerffel Rookie is so, so sick. Loved him in 1996 with that unfair, loaded Gators team, as well as their uniforms and colors, and when I pulled his rookie, all shiny and in sync with the color scheme, I was giddy and still get that way when I see it!

I think you're right though. I was born in 1984, and growing up in the midwest everyone loved the Bulls, Braves, and either their hometown team (Vikings/Packers) or Cowboys and 49ers. WGN had the Cubs on all of the time, obviously during the day, but the Braves we didn't get as much of. Hell, we barely even got the Twins.

Can you imagine if we could go back in time and show our stash to our younger selves? I don't know about you man, but I would probably get so excited I would start shaking when I seen some of the stuff I've acquired.

PS - You gotta shoot for those 1997 Skybox Autographics, football edition, if you already haven't. I am willing to bet you have, but those beauties are some of the finest of the era. Definitely worth a good run!

Yeah I've got about 10 years on you and the consensus of the older crowd was they looked cartoony. You won though, everyone loves them now.

I'm a couple cards away from the 98 football set, pretty sure I finished the '99 set. One card away from '99 baseball and can't remember on '00 baseball. I didn't bother with the '97 football set though, I don't remember all the reasons but I believe it was due to someone signing in blue plus all the different players that didn't know where to sign on the cards. It was a total clown show signature wise. I no longer am willing to accept players signing in the wrong color pen or in the wrong place. I've found too many other sets that were done properly so I just focus on those. I do agree when done correctly those '97's in football are 100x better looking than the '98's (which are ugly).

I don't even remember Danny Wuerffel.

It's amazing how rarely these pop up given that they are #/25.

I've got all the HOFers from 2008 except for Ryan and Boggs....haven't seen a Ryan pop up for sale since before the pandemic.....

You need to cough them up, or at least show me what some of them look like as I've never seen half of the set.

A Boggs was listed months back but the ink was faded and it looked pretty bad.

Makes sense, I can see that. I think not even knowing they existed and then receiving a pack of baseball that my dad bought me out of the blue while on his sales route adds to the allure and sentimental magic to at least. We didn't have a lot of money growing up so a random, unexpected $5 pack of cards was a treat. To top it off, the man picked a pack with a Platinum Portraits Alex Rodriguez in it! Quite a pull for that time.

That's awesome man, I am not surprised lol. None of my friends collect or care about cards, so it's nice to be able to discuss them here. Agree on the 97's being better, but at least the 98's have some charm to them. Respect to your standards for set building, especially if you're OCD about some things like I can be.

You should make a Youtube channel some day dude. Highlight a specific set and talk about its history, what makes it cool/special, the journey of putting it all together, etc... I'd watch it.

This took way longer than it should have to complete, been waiting years for a stupid Tannehill to surface. Don't know if he's short print or people collect him. I guess he does have more passing yards than losers like Steve Young. Does 9ersboy even post in the baseball forum or am I wasting my time trolling him?

That 2012 draft set bugs me. No names of the players on the front, just their autos. Feels like they could have put their names next to NAME and still had them sign below.

**gripe over** Love seeing full sets like these put together.
