Even before it was announced I had been actively hoping that Topps would branch off the T206 line into the other neat tobacco sets, so this was totally a set made specifically for my niche tastes. This was really the only set I really wanted a couple boxes of this year, so I went out of my way to have my order in at 12:01. Got zero, even though I can clearly see countless people got two separate winning raffle entries.

Sucks fanatics is doing a product like this eql. the true collectors get shut out. hopefully with the less than stellar rookie class the resale will be modest and boxes will hover around msrp. i got four single boxes but really wanted a few of the full hobby boxes for my sealed collection.

Weird, I got the email and notification from Topps around 9PM EST that I won my 1 carton entry. Seems like way after notices went out one way or the other. I'll never understand this system.

Glad I saved my EQL luck for something else, by not entering for a product I was 'kind of' interested in.

T205 comes out tomorrow. It's frustrating that Fanatics still hasn't released odds on a lot of the variations. Last year we got complete odds for T206 the same day of the presale... are we just supposed to assume that print runs for this year's T205 are the same for blank backs and wood stocks? I have no clue how to determine rarity on any of the image variations, design variations and SPs. Hopefully we will get more information or else it will be very difficult to determine scarcity.

Just opened my carton. Fun rip, as always. Hit a Mathewson back (1/1) Ketel Marte, and my auto was Tony Oliva. Also two woods, an Eisenhower first pitch and a Buxton gold leaf.
Sadly, no No-caps or city connections. Last edited by ATLSevarb; 10-15-2025 at 04:59 PM. |

I ripped 10 cartons + 10 more boxes.
Autos (13): James Wood, Jacob Wilson, Lowder, Alcantara, Hinds, Norby, Whitcomb, Malloy, Langford, Billy Wagner, Trevor Hoffman & Scott Rolen (x2) City Connects (2): Witt & PCA ASG Hats (7): Jeter, Ortiz, Mookie (x2), Elly, Merrill, Ketel Marte Design Variations (7): Rollie Fingers, Billy Wagner, Bobby Abreu, Tim Hudson, Andruw Jones, Brenton Doyle, Brian Roberts Blank Backs (8): Jackie Robinson, Cowser, Schmidt, Pasquantino, Ober, Pedroia, Cease, Oliva No Christy Mathewson backs sadly No missing hat variations I’ll have to add details on the better parallels later. Best I hit though was a James Wood Drum back (approx. 5 PR) QC was significantly worse than last year’s T206 release. Too many OC cards, too many surface blemishes.

If you are talking about Cobb backs, there aren’t any in T205, just Mathewson backs. I don’t think I hit any rare Cobb cards though

Can anyone tell me what this is? I busted 30 boxes and this type of variation (3 in total) came out of the same mini box. I can't find anything on the checklist that references these. The backs look exactly the same as the base.
Oh, i see Topps has it on their odds checklist. Looks like a Base Design Variation. |

Same thing happened to me too. I opened over a case of cartons and got 3 of these, all in the same mini-box. They refer to these as "Design variations", no other info other than that. I would have to assume pretty SSP, maybe like the blank backs.

Likewise. I opened 5 single boxes and I got a total of 3 of these design variations…all in the same box. One pack in that box had 1 and the next pack had 2. They all were in the normal variation spot (top 2 cards of the pack).

Also, I believe every card in the base set has a design variation (so 300 subjects). Interested to know how rare they are. Maybe around same as a cycle back.
