Serial-number would have helped.

Haha agreed.

Also, I was just joking, you caught a Topps mistake (although, if you do look at the placements of the 1s [particularly on the border], they're not exactly the same between the two cards...that's the joke I was making haha).

Agreed, should at least serialize it if that is the case.

The parallel doesn't even fully make sense. For example, there's a Haliburton card up for auction and he wears #0, so how many copies of that card are there?

How is it possible for a card to be this damaged week 1 of release?

WTF, I'll be the first, bring back POOPINI! lol

Yeah I was aware.

Topps was more concerned about getting their first nba product out in time than bothering with those unimportant details.

That card is in rough shape. I'm not sure it would grade a 7, so I would try to request a replacement, if it were mine.

I highly recommend everyone taking Steel City's offers of 350 on Jumbo and 180 on hobby. Those are damn near above ebay comps, fees be damned.

I mean this is the paper product right. Not the chrome.

I am pretty sure the crappy hoops and and crappy Donruss numbered cards were not the best QC cards in the world.

Even Hoops and Donruss boxes were high elevated prices for a paper product, We were actually able to get the Topps stuff out to the masses versus a Panini Botted release attempt.

Well at least for 4 minutes on Prerelease and 40 minutes on Release day.

Unless these places are all in on an eventual price pumping on this, which is quite possible.

Yeah, something tells me there is a fix in place that we don't know about yet. These buy prices being higher than ebay comps makes no sense. Places are buying as much as they can for some kind of stupid Fanatics/Breakers/Bounty pump soon to happen. Just watch.

Hit this in one of the two jumbos I opened. Got them at preorder price from Topps, and I think if you’re in at that price this was a fun rip and nice to see Topps back in the basketball game.

Would not pay the higher prices, and hope these settle back closer to the preorder price.

That's absurd and 100% should take that immediately. As much of a fun product this is to rip and it being the first topps licensed product out, no way should these be $350 or $180 respectively.

I've just been watching the sell prices by all the big 3 slowly go up by $25 each time. They bumped their buying up by $50 because so has their selling price, aka they're selling through their inventory. Seeing as how cases were impossible to buy, it's just those of us selling a couple boxes at a time to them, apparently nowhere near enough inventory if you're the big 3. Agree this is a fair price to take (you're banking most of the money vs what is potentially left on the table), but I have a sneaking suspicion it goes higher than this even. Us normal people never got any meaningful supply of jumbos, and the demand is clearly there. Funny because singles prices certainly don't justify the box prices, but I'm old man yelling on the lawn (it doesn't matter, sealed demand is unsatiable) and hence why I've sat out the hobby for awhile now.

Cards like this might justify box prices.

Not even the top rookie in the draft class (nor the potential 1/1 real one on-card autos of Curry or LeBron) either.

I was offered a jumbo case for $2400 shipped immediately after preorders. Probably should've pulled the trigger on it!

You're right, people will always take the top 5 cards in the product, dream big on beating the million to one odds of pulling it, and buy it. Fanatics should just put out a 500k bounty on the Flagg/Harper/Knueppel triple auto 1/1 and all of a sudden jumbos will be $600+.

The reality of opening a hobby/jumbo is that after the rip high, realizing you have a stack of worthless base, deciding whether it's even worth using an entire pack of sleeves and toploaders to sleeve up rookies like Fears and Maluach, and maybe 2 cards that are worth listing and selling to get like $40 back. This is my rinse and repeat reality, and hence I'll just open one jumbo, hopefully that will be enough to complete a base set, and sell the rest. As a Nets fan, I've been trying to buy Egor Demin singles but he falls into the category I mentioned. His bonus pack mojo only sells for $2, so it's not even really worth listing by the average person. But god bless all the people who do bother listing and shipping sub-$5 cards

100%.

A new (well, not so new anymore) form of sports-related gambling.

Not to mention, one can still do very good even if one doesn't hit the big cards (e.g., pull nice parallels/SPs/case hits/autos/etc of the main rookies/vets). Obviously, the odds are still stacked against you but it's not as bad as playing the lotto AND it's way more fun haha.
