Anchor down!! Vandy now a surprising dark horse in the SEC at #9...

If...and big IF...they can get by Texas next weekend, and a strong Auburn...

And IF..Tennessee gets by Arkansas struggling OU next weekend...

Will be the 1st time ever I believe the UT/Vandy rivalry game could have huge implications, and both potentially inside the top 10

And will Brian Kelly be anywhere to be found, or is he going to end up a ghost haunting the bayou?? Let's find out!!

Biggest Gain: In the top-25, both Cincinnati and Michigan gained 4 spots to #17 and #21, respectively. If we look at "Others" then Houston gained 7 from #29 to #22, but your big winner is Memphis who went from not receiving a single vote, putting them in a 100 way tie for #36 all the way up to #25. Strange few weeks for Memphis who went from #22 to not receiving a single vote to #25. They are the only ranked G5 team.

Biggest Loss: You can't spell Citrus Bowl without LSU!! You may want to search the swamps for our good friend, Brian Kelly, because you sure won't find him in the rankings. LSU is now unranked but if we look at "Others", they dropped 12 spots to #32. For those wondering (and according to google search, there are a lot of people wondering), the Bayou Buyout is $53 mill. USF and Illinois also lost 12 spots to #30 and #35, with Arizona State dropping 13 spots from #24 to a 100 way tie for #37. If we look only in the top-25, Oklahoma wasn't OK, dropping 5 spots to #18.

Best result for a loser: Mizzou gets this prize, dropping "only" 4 spots after falling to Vandy.

Worst results for a winner: A pair of winners, both ACC teams, fell 1 spot but surprisingly, Virginia was not one of them. Georgia Tech and Miami each slipped in victory to #8 and #10.
Does it really say two teams tied at #10?

Yes. BYU and Miami have identical points at #10.

Apparently the LSU Athletic Director was among those who did the Bayou Buyout google search because Brian Kelly done be canned.

He may be one of the biggest jerks in a profession full almost exclusively with jerks, but that man is a great college coach and I can’t think of a team with an opening that wouldn’t be well served to bring him in.

I’ve hated Kelly since he threw his players under the bus after a loss at ND. Good riddance.

Get your head out of your hindquarters. The guy won 3 nattys in 15 years of coaching at the P4 level (and it would have been 4 if Ohio State wasn’t under suspension his first year there). That’s better than anyone else out there not named Nick Saban and a major upgrade for all those schools currently looking for new coaches.

Assuming Saban is staying retired, name me an available coach that Florida or LSU or Penn State would be better off hiring. I need the Monday morning laugh.

He has made quick turnarounds or improvements at every stop including noticeable improvements in the first year each time. What he was doing in the 2000s and 2010s is similar to what Cignetti is doing today. Would love to see what he does in this new NIL era.

2001 Bowling Green 8-3 (was 2-9 the year before)
2003 Utah 10-2 (was 5-6 the year before, undefeated and won BCS bowl year after)
2005 Florida 9-3 (7-5 year before, 13-1 national champs year after)
2012 Ohio State 12-0 (6-7 year before under Fickell...lol)

Agreed. The only downsides are that he is older and the bigger one (his baggage with past scandals/cheating). We all know the big schools, SEC is particular, won't let scandals and cheating get in the way. Whatever outrage that happens disappears when Meyer brings the team into the championship playoffs. LSU would be stupid not to inquire. I would guess they already have.

Is someone actually arguing that Urban Meyer wouldn’t be the #2 choice (I’ll allow for Saban) of every team out there? Because he would be and it wouldn’t be close

He’s 3 years younger than Cignetti

Is this a Jacksonville thing?

Every team would want him if he decided to get back into it

He won’t though. So it’s moot

+1.

My wife asked who I wanted to win that game. I said I wanted LSU to lose because the coach is a scumbag.

Then he gets sacked

Is Urban as good now that everyone can openly pay their players? I thought that’s why Nick retired.

I would love to see this experiment take place IRL. Would be fascinating.

I'll take that as a no.

It proved exactly what I stated. Your ability to comprehend and accept any or all of it is entirely on you.

There’s no real way to know unless he tries it. I don’t think he will but like I said, if I was one of these programs looking for a coach, I’d at least test the water.

You proved that not 100 percent of people agree Auburn got hosed? Major accomplishment. But keep thinking that the majority of people agree with your take if it makes you feel better.

Sports media personality and radio host Craig Carton believes that Meyer's meeting with a Pennsylvania Senator was about the Penn State job.

“Unless he’s handicapping Bucknell’s game this week, my gut is he’s talking to Penn State,” Carton said of Meyer being spotted on Capitol Hill. “Which would make complete sense and be totally on brand for Urban Meyer to immediately insert himself into the most attractive college football opening in the land. Like, that is the job to get. So, I would not be surprised if Urban dusts off the old resume and convinces Penn State, ‘I’m the answer.'”

“Because Penn State needs to make a deal with the devil if they want to win a National Championship,” Carton continued. “You can already recruit there. He comes with National Championships. He’s done it at multiple schools now. Urban Meyer goes to Penn State, the Penn State cult members go crazy.”
