I just think they need to do something to change the length of games. Even my local TV station had a poll this morning about whether changes need to be made.

I love you, but seriously, you need to turn in your baseball fan card. The ghost runner is the single worst rule change in the history of baseball. Ghost runners would have robbed us of an amazing, classic game. It should be abolished for all games.

In fact, you should be forced to post in the Basketball Forum for the next 24 hours.

That game wasn't interesting enough?

Just watched the 18th inning HR. Freeman has had a lot of clutch moments in the WS over the years.

Boggles the mind that Atlanta let him go.

It’s not just Mookie batting behind him, it’s Freddie and the Fresh Prince.

If the Blue Jays want to play TACO - Toronto always chickens out - they will lose like the cowards they are. Dodgers have control of their minds now.

The only way they are going to salvage this series is to take out the Dodgers big gun.

They are too scared to do it.

Pages is absolutely a black hole in the 9 spot currently (despite seeing FAT pitches to hit batting in front of Ohtani most of the game). Ohtani's last 5 HRs have all been solo shots, no thanks to Pages not being able to get on base. I mean Kim would HAVE to do better in the 9 hole, right?? I get the Dodgers are limited in the OF if Pages doesn't start, but jesus, you can't have an automatic out whenever the 9 spot comes up.

The last Texas Rangers game was a full month ago.
If this was the first game someone watched since then, and thought, "boring!", then I'm not sure what baseball has for them.

I think the Dodgers are paying respect to him for his contributions during the season. They have still won despite him, right?

He will eventually get a clutch hit. They’ve stuck with Max, too.

They also like Pages’ defense in CF. He was a liability as a RC, but this year he’s been great.

This I can get on board with. Especially in the playoffs it really hardly ever goes more than 12 innings but when it does you have a classic. So many historical games would’ve been lost due to the ghost runner rule. As a true baseball fan what is more exciting than knowing any pitch or play could end the game.

Plus he helps mask Teoscar’s defense shortcomings to a certain degree.

I doubt Kim will see any action this series.

We’ll have to wait for next year.

Agreed being a Yankees fan I would’ve missed some great games even though they got knocked out earlier than last year. I can’t imagine any true fan of baseball blowing off the playoffs.

It was until I had to turn it off becuase it took so dang long. Had to find a score this morning. I just wish there was a way to make them not last so dang long.

Whenever Texas' last out occurred, my countdown to spring training started. I'd much rather watch that over some team I don't care about in the playoffs. At least the cheaters weren't there this year. So it was somewhat bearable. But only reason we watched last night is cause there were no other sporting events on.

I was thinking about a way to combat teams repeatedly IBB'ing or pitching around the other team's best hitter and came up with something that doesn't seem outrageous (would only apply in the post-season, and only in extra innings):

If the opposing team walks a batter (BB or IBB, doesn't matter) with the bases empty, the batter is automatically awarded 2nd base. This would only trigger upon the first walk issued by the team pitching. Any additional walks that half-inning would be treated as normal.

So the opposing team wants to avoid pitching to your best hitter even if the bases are empty? OK, you can do that, but now he's automatically in scoring position. This rule wouldn't totally eliminate pitching around hitters, but it would make teams think harder before deciding to IBB/pitch around someone.

That's why I keep a set of 1980's era Breeders Cup horseracing VHS videos around, for the downtime. If I go long enough between watching them, I sometimes even forget who won the races.

Olson has been pretty good. But Freeman is so good. Some think he is nearing the HOF. If he continues to play like this, that could be the case. His numbers are decent (2400 hits, .300 lifetime average, 367 homers).

I thought he had some good at bats last night. Bad outcomes but he had some 10 pitch at bats. He's had these streaks all year and then catches fire. When the alternative is like Alex Call, you sort of just have to ride Pages.

Well, you're right about being younger and cheaper at least.
