I have a couple of cards currently at PSA. I plan on selling them on ebay as soon as they're graded. I'm hoping they'll sell for >$500 each. My question is, should I list them myself or use PSA's consignment service to list them on ebay? I have extremely limited ebay selling experience, with none of it being sports cards. The few items have sold have sold for less than $250 each. After fees, I yielded 80-82% of the sale price. So PSA's 10-12% consignment fee seems attractive. However, I have no idea how well PSA auctions do compared to other consignors or private sellers. I'm looking for the best return, but if every option is within ~5%, then the convenience of PSA consignment is probably worth it for me. Please provide an explanation why you recommend one or the other.

I wouldn't say PSA consignment is horrible, however 1 time I had an auction that went unpaid for them and it took FOREVER to wait, and ultimately cash out with an offer from them directly anyways, instead of re-listing.
If you don't trust your own eBay account and experience, then there's nothing wrong with having PSA do the consignment. FYI however you need to do all sorts of setup and account creation with Stripe to tie a bank to your account so they can transfer the funds when it's all settled. |

If I was you, I'd co-sign them with a place like DcSports, MC sports cards, etc. If it's just 1 or 2 cards prob makes sense to just list through PSA but if it's a bath idk for some reason sales through PSA auctions seem a little lower than practically all other co-signers.
Depends on card though too. Certain cards will sell for the same amount regardless of who seller is. |

Sell it yourself. Makes no sense to give a percentage to a middleman. I believe a ton of people who use the middleman do so to shill their cards. Good luck.

Whatever you do, please do not list it yourself as an auction. Your listing will not get the same views that it will with any of the consignment firms discussed above, which will lead to fewer bids and a lower ending price. Ebay has an algorithm that prioritizes views, which will hurt your listing based on your limited Ebay experience. PSA seems the most convenient since you do not have to handle the card or worry about the cards getting to you safely or you shipping them out safely. If you decide to list the cards yourself, please usse fixed price listings with best offer turned on.

Personally I don’t think $500 or even $1000 is enough to be worth consigning a card.
Just throw it on eBay BIN/BO and wait for an offer you like. That’s the only way you’re going to get the best return

Through Dcsports, your payout is 86% (minus 1 dollar). 85% below $500. So you literally get paid more through co-signer. Some co-signers are even higher than that 86% if over $500. For me, I don't see a point in auctioning my cards unless it's lots. I do buy it now / best offer. But if OP is adamant to auction it off, co-signing makes sense. More views, more bidders, less headache with potential return, etc. 1 thing I don't like about dcsports though is they run 5 day auctions. I don't know why; I think this hurts less liquid / more collector cards people may just search for once/week Last edited by MavsRChamps; 11-11-2025 at 12:04 PM. |

It's a tough call, PSA consignment does make thing sooooo much more convenient (no shipping, no making your own listings, taking your own pictures etc.) but the 2 biggest downsides in my experience are
1. The titles are hit or miss, some are fine and hit all the key words but other times the title will use something like "signatures" instead of "auto" or abbreviate certain words (example, on one of my recent listings instead of "exquisite limited logos" the title used "exquisite ltd logos", nobody is going to be searching that.) 2. If you list on your own ebay account a lot of times new listings can actually draw attention to some of your older listings. I believe this has been proven to be a part of ebay's search algorithim and I do notice that whenever I make new listings I see an uptick in sales on my items that have already been listed for weeks/months. You don't get that benefit with PSA consignment. Overall I typically opt towards doing it myself, you really can't beat the convenience but I feel like the sub optimal titles as well as a few other factors makes the items noticably less likely to sell compared to if you just list them yourself. I guess it's less of an issue if you do auctions but I almost exclusively do BIN OBO. Last edited by Ericc5Bears; 11-11-2025 at 12:55 PM. |

Sell it yourself. PSA barely deserves our grading business let alone more money selling your card.

I’m looking at a card now I just sold for $100 and I just netted $84.24 … mind you I had shipping just $4.50 so lost a little there, and this buyer lives on state with slightly higher sales tax it seems. |

I have sold through PSA from my vault several times. It's easy and hassle free. For stuff under $1000 you will pay a 13% fee. That's it. You get your money pretty quickly once the buyer has paid.

It's actually 13% for $100-$499 and 12% for $500-$999. Not a huge difference but just want to make sure anyone who might read this gets accurate information.
