Its not just guys from poor countries. We just saw this in the nba, its everyone. Even if a player makes a ton of money, they can easily make others a lot of money by rigging prop bets.

Every professional sport is rigged in some fashion.

Andy Pages getting Clase pinched because he swung at one of the choked pitches is just incredible.

This is sort of reminiscent of players back in the 90s getting busted for tax evasion because they wouldn't report their earnings from signing at card shows. Just relatively small dollar stuff that's easy money.

Clase truly did not have the long game in mind from what these earnings show from betting

They need to get rid of some of these prop bets. It just creates a whole set of problems.

So...he was looking at his phone in between innings? Do what schools are doing...lock up the phones while school is in session.

The thing that gets me though...what does MLB expect when they themselves are openly in bed with gambling companies? Announcers have to talk about the bets audience can make during a televised game in during inning breaks. MLB is not innocent of this whole gambling stigma. If they want to keep the game "pure", disassociate themselves from all aspects of gambling.

Ban ALL bets whose outcome can be determined by a single individual acting alone.

It's that simple.....

It’s way too late for that. We have to get to Billion Dollar players, somehow.

Is it though?? I would like to think it is but certain players could influence a game by themselves

They couldn't ban it all together, they had to keep it so they can profit off of people with gambling addiction.

It's laughable that overnight gambling has taken over sports and people are surprised when this stuff happens. Corporations will always squeeze profits at the detriment of it's customers. Whether it's gambling or mortgage financing or fat/sugar in our food. Survival of the fittest I guess. Let the degens destroy themselves.

Not that it even matters. They promote alcohol at games too but we aren't worried about closers showing up drunk in the 9th inning. It's such a poor excuse to use.
Bill Lee claimed to pitch in relief on narcotics and Doc Ellis started a game and I think he pitched decently on acid from what I remember reading.

You can't put the genie back in the bottle when it comes to gambling. If states tried to ban gambling again mob controlled bookies would double over night so many more addicts are betting than when betting was largely illegal.

I don't gamble on sports, but I'd imagine the micro bets are more exciting and offer a more immediate and constant adrenaline rush/dopamine hit.

What's concerning is the platforms or MLB didn't catch Clase sooner -- he had allegedly been doing it for at least a few years before Ortiz's two bets got flagged.

Just imagine how much of that has and is still going on since then...

I think Congress should look at their own integrity first before worrying about anyone else's. And this applies to both sides of the isle. Almost every one of them are bought and paid for, just like Clase was.
